Default Need an additional 33hp

Me and my group has been building this engine for class the past 5 weeks.
Been building it for 3 weeks and barely started it last week and then started changing stuff out.

SBC 350
We got 190hp/220 ft lbs for a baseline.
I chose a Comp Cams 280H and made an additional 50hp to 239hp/247 ft lbs.
http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/Ca...x?csid=79&sb=2

After that, we threw in Brodix 1k-180 heads, Edelbrock Victor Jr Single Plane I/M, large tube headers, Proform 650CFM Carb. Great, we made another 80hp at 317hp/309 ft lbs.

My goal is to get 350hp to get a 125 shot of Nitrous. Nothing less.
How can I get that 33hp? Were going to throw in a Cam next but I don't know what to look for. Lower LSA? Intake Centerline? More lift? Duration?

This is for dyno purposes only, no street use.

cool project, is it in a car or just a engine dyno? You could get 1.6 roller rockers. thats all i can think of thats not on your list so far. theres the MSD ignition stuff aswell.

i would suggest mill the heads for more compression and do a port job on the heads, that should get you 33 more hp

We drop it in a Ford T Bucket and run it on a chassis dyno.

I wish but I don't think we can do that. Just changing parts.

Go over onto the performance forum at chevelles.com and get in touch with Cstraub or UDharrold...they should be able to grind you a real tight LSA solid lifter cam with real aggressive lobes. I don't think you need much more overall lift, because those heads don't flow much at higher lifts. Make sure you tell them it is for a dyno competition!

Can you swap head gaskets to get a little more compression?

at the wheels.

Were going to dyno tomorrow with this cam. Hoping it's not too much but I guess I'll probably learn from it.

We degree'd it and got 105.25 Lobe Seperation and I think 72 Overlap.
Lobe Lift is 0.353/0.366. Rocker Arm Ratio 1.5:1 so 0.529/0.549.

650CFM Carb should be enough right?
Should I stick with Single Plane or Dual Plane I/M? We can only dyno up to 5,500 RPM.
Spacers?

if you are dynoing up to 5,500 then dual plane intake is better and change the carb to holley or quick fuel they are better than the proform go with 750cfm and is the block flat tappet or roller?

Flat Tappet.

I'll try and get a Holley 700 or 750CFM.
I won't be switching to dual plane though, Yet.
Right now my plans are to dyno tomorrow with the new cam, single plane Victor Jr. (no spacers), Holley Carb, Large Tube Headers/Straight Pipes.
Then next week, I'll switch to Performer RPM intake manifold with 1" Spacer and Large Tube Headers with Muffler. Everything else will stay the same.

Should I stick with straight pipes or a muffler? Long or Short Muffler?

and if it matters, I found out compression ratio is at 10.46:1.

a good exhaust system should help it build some torque

try the RPM without the spacer first

I would be putting a good carb spacer on the single plane right now.

I also think that the single plane will make more power even though your only going to 5500.

I would also try to use a 750 holley DP if you can get one.

hmm, we didn't get to dyno today.

I switched to the RPM Air Gap though.

Another slow day, no dyno.
We did start it up though, it sounds nice.

I have a question though. Is 750CFM too much?
We only have 750CFM (Holley and Demon) or 650CFM (Holley, Demon, Proform), nothing in between.

I had the Holley 4160 750CFM on when we started it.

Well, Thanks everyone. I finally finished, way ahead of my expectations.

Got 352HP/309 ft lbs yesterday with a 650CFM Demon.
Changed out the spark plugs today and changed to a 750CFM Demon hooked up for Nitrous, 369HP/316 ft lbs.
439HP/411 ft lbs with a 125 shot of Nitrous.

Not bad from the base 190hp/220ft lbs. Gain of 179HP/96ft lbs, NA and 249HP/191ft lbs, Nitrous.
