Default sbc 416 heads or procomp 210 heads

i know you guys are going to beat me up on this thread but i have a very tight budget right now. $900 is my budget. I have a guy that is selling 416 rebuilt heads, 1.94/1.6, gasket ported on intake only, unknown brand valve springs good for up to .500" lift. he is asking $150 for the set and will have them dipped for cleaning at the shop. OR go with out of the pro comp 210 CNC'd chambered 58cc fully assembled heads, springs good for up to .600" for $615.00 on ebay. Felpro 0.015 head gaskets and a comp cam 280H flat tappet. What do you guys think that will get me closer to 400hp at the crank.

specs: sbc 355, stock crank, flat top pistons w/valve reliefs, edebrock 1406 manual choke, edelbrock perfomer intake w/2 inch spacer, flat tappet valvetrain.

what type of compression would i be looking at and will my stock starter handle that new compression?

Sell the sbc and invest in a LS swap that comes with heads that dominate the old school stuff.

If you have to, I would just find some vortec heads and run them. They work well and are proven again and again to make 425 HP with the right cam on a 350. And even more.

I would invest in a LS engine if the price was lower than this. These are the typical price ranges for LS engines in my area.

58cc heads with flat tops is going to put the compression up around 12:1 and I don't think the cam will bleed off that enough to make it run on pump gas. I'd go with the Vortecs.

Pro-comp parts are cheaply made off shore copies of American parts. They are well known for casting flash, core shift, and parts failures. I wouldn't use them on my car if they were free.

Never buy cheap parts, they're too expensive.

Just gotta hit the junk yards around here. Money talks when it's cash in their face.

Junk yards here are expensive here too. But coincidently I found a 5.3 out of a 2004 tahoe with 89,000 miles from a local racing club for $800 with 4l60e or $450 just motor. Just motor is complete with all accessories, pm, wiring harness, EVERYTHING included. So now my next question. What flex Plate do i need to mate it to my 700r4? Will my stock 5.0 electric fuel pump be enough for the setup?

You can slot the flex plate holes and use a spacer off a 6.0 from 2001-2006. It will go between the flex plate and bolts to meet up with the snout of the converter in the 700r.

A stock fuel pump would feed it fine as long as you have it regulated correct.

going to get it after all. ZONES89RS, any threads out there that you know of that have a write-up on how to install these into the mustang? fuel system on this one looks like it doesn't have a return line on it. Do i just put a tee on it?
