Default '71 BBC LS6 heads

I have a set of '71 year model LS6 heads pn#3994026. they have been port/polished & milled dont know all the specific flow #'s. they are bare but in great shape. what would you guys say the are worth? Im thinking about trying to sell them for a set of heads to go on my Camaro. these heads were originaly going to be for my '69 Nova SS. i was building a 535Ci stroker, but now i may have to sell the car. I dont have a place to keep it any more

I've seen a couple sets on ebay go for around $1200 there were also bare one set was rusty.

Oh well, maybe i'll just keep them for a future project. its just been on my mine for the last few days.

did another search, the LS6 was the 425hp option for the '71 vettes the LS5 was the 390hp option you could also get the 330hp LT1. there were only 188 sold with the LS6 RPO so i guess you could say there rare.

Heres some what of a right up. http://www.illustratedcorvetteseries...rod_Vette.html

heres were i found the build #'s http://rowleycorvette.com/stats71.html

LS6 never came in vettes man. Sorry to burst your bubble. The LS6 actually was listed in the vette handout and was rated at 460HP, but none ever made that we know of. There are some rumors that a few LS6 vettes left the factory.

If you look at the MorTec casting site....
http://www.mortec.com/bbc.htm
They advertise 3994026....71......rect...OPEN...454 LS6, 118cc chamber
Yet other books say 4291 LS6 for 1970

3946074....69&71...rect...OPEN...'69 427 L88, ZL1, Aluminum, 118cc chamber
'71 454 LS6, "round exhaust port"

Not hard to get mislead let alone go ballistic on someone who might not know. With all the very different info out there we help each other be better informed. Hey try this, well if you look at this site you'll find that they did produce this and here is the info. Try to remain civil and not look stupid going off the deep end when you know your right. Just my two cents and I get to spend them where I'd like.

Didn't look at the date was just searching for info and stumbled across this one. Nice job on the tubbing it looks great. I have the 4291 heads and I don't believe they will work on the roller assembly on the 1990 454 I found Looks like a really nice ride.

Its still a huge work in progress, the front clip is off and I haven't done the tin work to replace the floor boards/trunk area yet.

as for the 291 heads on the 1990 454 block , I have about the same combo sitting in the car now(#820 HEADS on a #14015445 BLOCK, pulled from a '90 dully). Im not running roller on it yet, its just a cheap hyd flat tappet setup I threw together for mock up & so i could pull the car in and out of the shop. Im not sure what parts that block you found has but You should be able to make a roller setup work with those heads.

Its a 90 SS engine so peanut port heads and low compression.7.9-8.3 if its that high. So I think I will try this idea for now.

http://www.ststurbo.com/the_technology

Should be ok on the low compression setup the engine has low Km 60000 range.

The STS kits are a pretty cool deal, Why not pull the crappy peanut ports off, throw them away then bolt your rect ports on. the turbo kit will no doubt be awesome but those crappy heads are going to be choking off a lot of potential power. just a thought

Well will the heads work ok with the roller cam and I guess all I'd need to do is change the tbi intake to work with the older heads. I never mind the advice or suggestions. Thanks

Well I was out in the garage the other day and realized I still have these. The car now has an LSX stroker and trickflow 235's so I have no need for these BBC Heads.

Make me an offer, I just want them gone to someone who can actually use them.
