About the only way you will get 600hp is gonna be with a solid roller cam. Unless you mean 600/550 with the spray. If I were you I would get a set of AFR 227's fully CNC'd from AFR or some Dart Pro 1 230's.. And I'd junk that Air Gap for a Victor Jr or Super Victor.

i would disagree completely. 600hp and pump gas is definately doable with the right amount of air in/ air out....head/cam setup, with a hyd. roller cam. 427ci is big, and that's only 1.4hp/ci. that should be easy enough so long as, like i said, you have the right head cam pkg. i will agree with the Victor Jr. that shouldn't be a restriction for that kind of power. i'm not saying it's easy, just talk to a pro shop and ask their recommendation.

could be done without a solid roller, but either hydraulic roller or solid cam would have to be choice, plus heads are the key. Another in agreement for the victor jr, possibly even a super victor jr. Go with a 750 hp carb at least. I'd consider calling cam and/or comp cams deirectly for their recommendation on the cam selection, or as stated above you could always get the advice from a shop with experience with combos similar to what you'd like. Make sure you have the info on what gearing, trans, convertor or clutch, and weight of the car will be.

a 600 hp motor would need at least 3 inch exhaust, if not possibly 3-1/2". Hell I put 3 inch exhaust on a 400 hp motor in my nova and picked up a tenth over a similar mandrel bent system, but in 2-1/2" diameter. I agree, that cam is probably not enough rpm range to get you to 600 hp.

why not solid roller?if you haven't purchased heads allready the ones set up for a hefty sr isn't much higher.i can't remember how big of a hr you can get i'd go atleast upper 250s @.050 & .600+ i'd say for 600-650 hp=230 pro 1s or afr 227s,motown 220s may get you there. you need a healthy cam =.264/268 @.050 .660/.630 lift or similar SR .call comp or other cam manufacturers.

So, like I said.. in order to obtain 600+hp then you will "more than likely" want to go with a solid roller camshaft. And yes, call Comp Cams and get a custom grind cam that is setup solely for the setup you are running. Cam would probably be around 260-280 duration and .650-.670 lift. Just depends on the head you go with. And yes, Victor Jr or Super Vic is the only way to go just really depends on the heads & camshaft you end up with.. And you will need 3in exhaust for sure.. Bigger would be better but 3in will work ok. I would think that the Dart 230's or AFR 227's would be the way to go. I don't think the Motown 220's are enough head for an engine that size.
