lets talk heads

well guys i am in the market for new heads

the motor i will be puting them on is a sbc 355 with a procharger d-s1. the motor will not be taken past 6500 RPM. now the problem is what brand to go with, there is about a million diff brands out there. AFR, world, brodix, DART. thats just to name a few, what would you guys go with? for alum heads in the $1300 range

AFR's new eliminator series seems to be a good head. If I was you I'd hit them up and see what they can do for you. I'm going to use their 180cc head.

Canfield makes nice aluminum SBC heads as well, I have a set on my Nova's 383 powerplant.

Pro Top Line 235's or Dart Pro1 230's are the best untill you go offset rockers or 18*...IMO

Dont get cought up in all the "AFR" hipe,IMO it's over priced junk

AFR makes quality cylinder heads! They do cost more than most heads and have a lengthy delivery time (usually if you order directly from AFR). Those are about the only down falls that I have seen with them.

Is this a street motor? Even with low RPM, will there be a lot of boost? Is it cammed for 6500 max or does it have stock rods/valvetrain? Auto with high stall or manual trans? if AFR195 Eliminators were avaliable I'd try them, assuming they don't cost more than their old stuff.(less than $1500). AFR210's or a Dart 215cc might be nice too. All depends on if you are looking to wring out a lot of power or just want something torquey...Can you get cam specs?
