Default Intake/Carb

Hey guys im trying to find a good setup for an intake and carb combination. I have vortec heads and im looking for about 450 horse at under 5500 rpms. Any suggestions for a good setup?

Well, if you have 350 cubes or 355, a air gap inake and a 650 carb from holley would net you that at about 6300 with the right cam, maybe 425. If you have a 383 you might be able to get it around 5700 RPM, also with a air gap and 650 carb, the 383 would like a 750 a bit more and it would work verry well. I like the XE288HR cam from comp personally.

thanks for the info. I got a comp cam 270H in there. And its a 355. i had it bored .030 over.With that setup i should get at least over 350 horse right?

At the flywheel, it is possible, might be around 370 even. I would never use a cam that small though.

What head work do you have done and what is your CR?

i just got vortec cast iron 64cc heads. My CR is 9.35:1. And a holley carb should fit onto the edelbrock intake right?

An Edelbrock intake that is made for vortec heads it will.

im lookin at one of the edelbrock carb/intake kits, should i buy the combo kit or get them seperatly? Im building on a budget...

Summit has kits, I'd get a regular holley with a dual plane intake.

is there going to be a big difference between the summit brand intake and a performer rpm intake?

Just the quality isnt quite as good but decent, its a copy of an Edelbrock just like all of Professional Products intakes which are Chinese knockoffs.
