Default no substitute for power

hey guys does anybody know whats the best headgasket to run on a turbo setup? is there technology to eliminate o-ringing the block? or is a copper gasket w/an o-ring set up, still the way to go?

Fel Pro MLS, no need to o-ring the block with that head gasket. Copper gasket with an o-ring'd block is old school. MLS with head studs would take pretty much anything you could throw at it.

I would use the MLS head gaskets as well. Jim Butler Performance had a Pontiac stroker motor that was turbo charged making over 3,000 HP. The turbo was producing 54 lbs. of boost on a MLS head gasket without problem's. I would think that would be far more extreme than what you would be making in a street/strip vehicle.

i doubt 54 lbs. of boost. i personally know a guy that pushes water at 28lbs with arp studs and mls head gaskets with everything perfectly flat no issues with warpage etc. stock type gaskets can only hold so much before they will push apart.

i also know a guy that has pushed water with oringed block(for example my car has pushed some water with cometics from and arp studs from radiator cap,but not in between heads/block like the above mentioned person with oringed block), i hope you know that boost ratings are worthless, its all about how big the turbo is. You can have way more cfm with a big turbo at 5psi then some tiny turbo at 58psi. Just for the record Casper fastest ls1 car has been 6s on Cometic head gaskets, motor was build by wheel 2 wheel.

i just assembled and tried to dyno a 2000 hp 528" aluminum hemi with a psi blower. needless to say, with only 25lbs of boost it lifted the head and spit the corner of the cometic head gaskets out. So now the block and heads are o ringed with flatout copper head gaskets. i'll try to dyno it again this week. If it is a moderate amount of boost, save yourself the trouble and o ring it.

ahaha u guys i swear, how big is the blower with 25psi? because it can be pushing so much CFM with 25psi that any of these smaller blowers/turbos will at 60psi.
anyway do as you wish and good luck.

i hope you o-ring the head and reciever groove the block! it holds the boost better than o-ringing the block and a reciever groove in the head! this is top fuel info i was given by a crewchief for a fuel team w/alot of championships to his credit!
