Took the car to the track last night, I think I may have finally wore the Ole 60e. Any of yall have experience with the rpm 60es? or should I man up and ditch overdrive for a th350/400? Rpm recommends the level 6 60e for my future plans but at 3000 dollars shipped I'm kind of iffy on it. Input welcome.

Hey there you have a nice car. I have a rpm 4l60 level 5 it has held up to many low 11 sec runs. It will take me into the 10s.It's a good trans.I would not give up overdrive for anything 4l60e can be built right. Flt is also good as well.

Yea it leaves really really well haha.
I'm ok with ditching overdrive if the price is right for the swap.
It seems like Rpm has really figured it out with these 60s which I like more for the first gear ratio. It's just so expensive.

 

How long did it last? How many runs did You get out of it?

 

50 passes and 6k miles maybe? I did get it with 88k miles though. It shifted for me yesterday but I did bring it down 2 mph and 300 rpm to make it shift haha

 

That's not to bad. A buddy of mine has a brand new 4l80 and is having nothing but issues.

60e still works under normal driving but it's starting to fail on the wot shifts.

 

Well guys, I ended up getting to make some passes with the 26" Mickey thompsons. However, they had a bad headwind and I couldn't get the car in the 10's that day. After 4 passes I decided to hang it up for the day. It did go consistent 1.58 short times however so I was happy about that.

Any body here used Larry Meaux for head porting, thinking about getting the 241's ported by either he or Advanced Induction who'd done a pair of 243's for me. My brother thinking about going with that and maybe a LS6 cam or something a little bigger.

 

i havent heard anything about larry but i have heard many great things about AI. if yall are gonna change the cam, id go with a larger cam. make it worth the time and trouble. the ls6 cam is an improvement over the stock ls1 cam, but go with a 224 or 228 cam. still mild, but more power when tuned.

 

Yeah, I kinda told him he might wanna step it up from the LS6 cam, he's looking for something with close to stock idle. Im having a 229/236 put in so once it's up and running and he hears it then he'll prob know what duration he's looking for.

I agree. he said the problems i had with my car dieing at low idle was because of low tranny fluid not a fucked up tune they put on it. But I wish to thank him though because if he wasnt a dick I would have never took my car to Futral
