HAHA My carb runs just fine. If I would put more than a 175 shot in it maybe it would go some .7s or .8s!!! Nothing wrong with a 175 shot running some 5.90s!!! If I ever get time I am going to pull the trans out and go through the direct drive and put a new rear band in it. Then maybe I will put a 200 shot in it and see what happens!!! It went 6.0x-6.1x on a 150 shot and was in the 114ish range then 117ish on the 175. Maybe 120ish on the 200?? lol. It would be nice!!

since you guys on are a "bash the cobras" kick, I thought I'd better step in here. By the way, anyone got a rear end to replace the chit that GM put in these slow *** SS's? If a weak *** LSwhatever will break one of these rear ends, just think what something with some real power could do.....

Is that a callout to any LSx engine around here? I know of a couple low 6second fbodies on stock 10bolts too btw. I wouldn't mind stepping up to race a cobra though

Naw, it wasn't a callout. I seriously need a rear end to put in this SS I've got. Damn thing broke at the track. I think it's the spider gears, but I haven't taken it apart yet. May just go ahead and throw some axles and a spool in it and call it a day.

As for the cobra, it's still a couple months away from being ready. Every piece I've ordered has taken at least 3 times as long to get it as they said it would. Once it's done though, you can bring on up and we'll give it a shot. I was just in Gardendale Thursday at the civic center for a class. It's not that far, so Huntsville should be a good meeting spot....

Where are you from?? If it's a 6speed car good luck keeping a rear end under if it makes any power. If preloading it and leaving soft I used to break mine all the time on my trans am. Pinions used to be my problem though.

I'm up here in the Florence/Muscle Shoals area. The car is actually an auto car with a mild cam, little port work, and 2 small stages. The trans is built and it's got a 3600-ish converter in it. Looking at putting a 9" in it, but really didn't want to spend the money. But with a 9", some 4.56's and a glide, I think it would be nasty....
