Default Cats Needed in GA?

Since it looks like I'm going to be moving out there this summer, just wanted to find out what type of emission BS I have to go through. I have to do NOTHING here in AZ; no testing, no cats, etc. VERY nice. Is it the same there, or do I have to jump though hoops? Thanks!!

Where's "around here"? lol In AZ, you have to get smogged if you live within a major metropolitan area (Phoenix and Tucson), otherwise you have to do nothing. Same idea in GA, or...?

It depends on what county you live in. If they do test emmissions where you move to here, just program your pcm to pass.

Unless they look under the car and see no cats. I alway's just tell the guy upfront and see if I give him a little more $$$ to pass it. It usually will work. Just be carefull!!

Alot of counties require emmissions testing which includes a visual inspection for cats, but some do not.

As long as there is no SES light, then you will be fine. I don't know of any- body who will do visual inspection. I don't even think that there is a law stating you can fail by a visual.

Well if it against the law not to have cats then why if they look under the car can't they fail the inspection for not having them it.

Yes, you can fail a visual if you don't have cats. However, some shops there are nice enough not to look. Then, on OBDII cars, they just plug into your computer. If you have egr, air, and back o2's turned off, they'll never know....if they don't look.

No visual inspection and no sniffer test on OBD2 cars in Georgia..you just have to train your PCM to tell the story that you want it to tell... ... This is in the counties around the ATL metro area ... when you get out in the boonies no test at all..
