True..I have seen some that go pretty well. There is a certian limit that they will hit though, everything has a limit to it's capabilities. Small motors can run pretty good, but a big one built up the same as that small one will eat it.
There is no replacement for displacement..

Briles and I are going to take his 408 Silverado over there but it's not going to run at the track, the diff isn't beefed up yet and neither are the u-joints. Normally this wouldn't matter but he's starting a new job the following Monday and wants to make sure he has a way to and from work since the truck's all he has at the moment.

However, that doesn't rule out some interstate fun

There is a replacement for displacement, it's called forced induction.

Take your setup on a factory displacement 350 LS1 vs. your 408 LS1, and see which one has more power..that's what I mean. You can do what you want in mods, but the size is going to be the contributing factor in almost all of cases.

It's all good...
That is one of the things that the local ricers argue with me and my friends about though, so it kind of sounds like

I don't think NOS is cheating. I have ran it before and done really well. I have a 1968 chevy C/10 with Nos ran 9.40's @ 112 at centerville with it. Drove it to the track ran the number and drove it home. Nos is alot of fun but you have to have supporting mods and respect it because I have also blew **** up with it.

DAMN!!! Last year pump gas drags was hella fun!! It only sucks because they pull spark plugs after every pass. Race for 10 min. hour intermission no joke!! But god it was fun!

Winner last year was playing iwth the 2nd place car the final run. He couldnt give it all it had. If he ran 8.49 he was disqualifed. Winning run was 8.52 and earlier that night he ran 8.54 and 8.52(believe those were the times) on only one stage of nitrous. This is all according the lovely announcer tho. Something about his cage not passing or frame not passing the 8.50 rule.

Their were bout 5-8 fbodies/ls1's their. One TT went like to the semi's but that was the furthest. If the ttls6 rx-7 from Georgia would get his **** together they would have one HELL of a bad car!

AND WHOEVER THE **** SAID A MACH 1 was bad!!!! Intake, catback, slicks and a 200 shot, oh and dyno tuned ran 10.2(this is his best btw) at centerville. NO THOSE CARS ARE NOT BAD!!!

Stock one in the Quarter at Memphis one time pulled a 13.98, 2.0 60', He had a M6 Car. You would think he would be below 10's in the 1000 if he has them mods with a 200 shot.

Them cars struggle to make 300/300 on motor. Its very difficult with stock heads/cams.

You are correct tho. Hell I raced one at memphis actually. When I ran 13.7. And after 2nd gear he had me by about 15 cars, NO ****!! and I ran him back down to closer to 4-6 cars. He ran like a 13.5, maybe?, with gears, full exhaust, slicks, intake, small wieght reduction and motor dyno tune.

Im not hating at all. HELL ryan has seen the car go 10.72 on the juice!!! same night I went 10.55 on street tires. Ive seen the car 10.2.

If your up for a little street racing it wont take much for him to come out and do a little playing.

Mach 1's are 5-speed manuals and I've seen 12.8's all day on one with DR's and that was it. My buddy had one when I was staioned in WA and he'd smoke me off the line every time with my '00 M6 SS. I'd pull him pretty good on the highway, but he was always right behind me. Of course there's always gonna be the one's that can't run **** with major mods, but then again that applies to some guys with LS1's too. So yes, I think they are/can be badass cars with minor mods and a good driver. I know of one around here who might surprise a few people.
