That's cool, I definitely don't know a ton about them, just going from memory on a few posts / articles I had read. Do you know what rwhp they are putting down stock? Our trusty LS1's were putting down high 200's back in the late 90's when they were rated at 305bhp, so it could happen I guess.

I wonder if it's the same car? 'cause this one looks like it has an aftermarket hood on it, maybe prior to that he had a stock hood w/ those stripes? (total speculation, I have no idea if it's really the same car).

Cool, I wonder what ratios they are using for calculating parasitic loss in the drivetrain? I like comparing rwhp numbers much better than bhp's guessed from dynos (although of course comparing dyno numbers is far from an exact science, just saying it would be one less variable to take their 'conversion ratio' out of the equation).

Agreed!

What mods does the GT500 have to put down those numbers? And remind me what your car has (you can pm or email me if you don't want to post it) done? - I know the LT1's run and I'm a fan of the LT1, had several - some of my pics are here of those: http://www.johntookmypicture.com/Cars/491551

I say we have a "king of the mountain" type round robin tournament between us here, and a comparable number of ford guys from the stang boards.

I'd type more but I gotta go to work.

I'll volunteer to humiliate that red and black car first

yes but also chevy has been known to underrate the power output of their cars where ford is known for overrating them. guys at the dyno shop said the new mustags are lucky to get down 215 rwhp stock. plus they are heavy.

Back when the LS1 come in the f body, they rated them at the rear wheels so not to **** off the vette guys. I was told that from Scott Settlemier from GM. The LT1's were rated at the crank. My 96 SS rated at 310 bhp put down 259 at the wheels with SLP shorty headers. I have seen LS1's put down anywhere from 280's to 310's at the wheels.
Back to this mustang, he may be getting 500 bhp if the motor has all stock internals. My 05 vette was 400 bhp, after I put longtubes, magnacharger on and with the crappy tune that come with it, it dynoed at 454 rwhp at 5.5 lbs of boost. Went to a smaller pulley at 10 lbs and had it tune and it come up to 532 rwhp. They had 560 but had to back the timing down so the motor would last longer.
My wifes TBSS has out run late model stangs at the track when it was bone stock and it weigh's 4800 lb's.
A guy I work with has a 5 second nova that he runs over at Phenix drag strip, he said there is a white/blue Gt 500 over there that runs low 8's.
For the money they should run mid 7's I would think.
My old SS ran 11:50's at SDR with just heads/cam and a 175 shot.
7 flat at Phenix drag strip.
WOW, I need to lay off the coffee this morning. Cant stop typing......
So if anything above sounds stupid, you know why.

GT500 running low eights?!

Good lord, I ran 8.01@88 mph on stock turbo/intercooler/exhaust everything except an adjustable wastegate and c16 fuel, running 22-23 psi.

My opinion of these cars has hit a new low

I'm just going by what the guy said. One of the mags. compared it to a C6 vette and the vette with less HP out ran it all the way around.

the tires are too narrow to really get the car going without a lot of wheel spin. previous owner of my car told me if i ever get to race one do it from a dig and hole shot the guy so he will panic and over power his tires. once he does that its all over. top end is where the GT500 makes it power so if you can get the drop on one off the line then you are in business, if not, you may have your work cut out for you. i cant wait to tangle with one. however seeing that they are forced induction it doesnt take much money at all to make some serious power out of them.

Okay, who is going to try and make it out for sure tonight? I heard that everyone had a pretty good time last night, and of course that was the night I decided not to go. If it doesn't rain, I'm pretty sure that BigBuick and I will be out there.

I heard it was dead out there and it was still pretty wet, so I didn't bother going out.
