Default Undercoating my Firehawk

I think I want to undercoat my Firehawk. If I do it I will take my time tape off things or take them off the car or whatever needs. Would this hurt the value of the car? Its got a few things done to it, and I never really plan to sell it. Just hit 70,000 miles before I put it away this winter. Its just one of those things that bugs me about the car, I want it to be "cleaner" ya know. I wish I could just paint it base/clear but I dont have the time to prep it..

Undercoating is heavy, I don't know about depreciation, But it would certainly add some weight to the car.

Are you looking for just a cleaner look while at ground level? My 2000 Firebird has just the wheel wells done, and the bottom is all still original. It gives it a nice look. Now my 69 Firebird I had stripped all of the undercoating off and repainted with a epoxy paint. I mainly did that to drop the weight of the undercoat and I wanted to make sure that it really was a rust free Cali car.

Yeah I want it to look cleaner. Iv taken the front inner fenders and undercoated them with the 3M Coating. It looks a lot better than the greyish plastic look. The rears I did the same. I think want I want to do under the car is use the POR15. Its a super hard undercoating and its used to stop or prevent rust! Its shiny, can be brushed or sprayed. I think thats what Im going to go with. Im so picky, Im young and everything has to be perfect I guess idk..just somethin that bugs me knowing that my cars got a little dirt here and there!

Wow that is one clean hawk... I would never have the time or the tools to do that. That is impressive.

I was thinking of doing my front innner fender wells where it is gray, blacken it out will look better, but as far the the entire underside of the car i wouldn't do it. It seems that you put it away for the winter anyway so salt corrosion shouldn't be a factor.

You live in Missouri and unless you drive this car in the salt there's no reason to put thick heavy undercoat on it. The cars are already sealed with a undercoat type primer epoxy so no real need to do this. If you want it cleaner then get under it and detail it.

Will it hurt it's value, not anymore than 70,000 miles already have. Could turn off some buyers as some people see that as trying to hide rust (mainly on older cars). If it were me I'd get factory style underbody paints and go to town.

If you really want to under coat the car go with 3m brand. Napa carrys it about $6.00 a can. Dry's very hard and has a flat black color.

weight of 3 cans maybe 2 to 3 lbs not going to effect anything.
