Only 77 Bright Teal Metallic 1996 Camaro SS's were made in that color.

I can break it down farther with other options.

PM me if you want.

SORRY FOR THE CRAPPY PICS!![/IMG]the only one that is completely done at the time. it has a fully forged 355 and stalled A4. and sorry, i dont have any pics of the polo green one yet, but i will. it is also currently getting a new motor. what a relief it will be when all 4 of them are done!

The bright teal metallic '96 SSes are technically the RAREST of every single factory 4th gen Camaro. According to SLP records, 77 of them, according to VIN records on compnine, 78 of them.

Here is a break down of the SSes.

Bright Teal Metallic t-tops:37

manual:23
automatic:14

Bright Teal Metallic hardtops:31

manual:24
automatic:7

Bright Teal Metallic convertibles:10

manual:7
automatic:3

If I were you, I'd restore it to original!

According to CompNine's data, only 1 was made of the following (limiting this list to SS):

'97 SS coupe in BPM (88U), a A4
'97 SS coupe in BGM (31U), a A4
'98 SS Coupe in Cayenne Red Met (96U), a M6
'98 SS 'vert in Mystic Teal (79U), a M6
'00 SS coupe in SOM (71U), a M6 (pre-production paint test??)
'00 SS 'verts in SOM (71U), one each M6 and A4 (pre-production paint test??)

Do these not show up in SLP's records?

I've started believing Compnine's data. None of those show up in any SLP production stuff I have. I'd love to own the BPM SS if it really exists, and I have pics and a bit of info about the Mystic Teal one. If Compnine didn't start charging for their RPO checker, we could check and see if those cars have the RPO codes for experimental cars and whatnot.

Since I'm more of an LT1 fan, I forgot to mention that there were supposedly only 29 Sport Gold Metallic SSes ('98 only color), so those may technically the rarest factory 4th gens. If I had the VIN # of one of those gold SSes, I'd be able to verify the 29 claim a bit more accurately, but I don't. The Bright Teal '96 SSes are the rarest of the early 4th gens though.

Do you still have that chart that you created with compnine data?

So I'm about to pick up a teal 96 ss, I ran the vin and on compnine and it comes up with the WU8 code, does that indicate its a true ss?

Most of the '96 SSes should have R7T, but some have WU8. If you want me to take a look at the VIN I'd be happy to. I'd like to see some pictures of the car for sure; I've been working on the '96-'97 SS page of my site for the past few months and could use some more pictures or low mileage, stock examples.

Don't forget about the 7 SGM SS 'verts in '98 in addition to the 29 coupes.
