SS, Firehawk, Trans Am Breakdown
So the SS Camaros were supposedly made in limited quantity. I highly doubt this but agree that maybe there are rare equipment/color combinations. Is the Firehawk or WS6 the SS equivalent? I know SLP did the Firehawks but did they have a hand in the WS6's? On a collector scale which is higher sought after?

I would think the firehawk, collector edition WS6's, and the 35th LE SS cars would be at the top of the list, although others may be sought after if they are in good shape, etc. after a few years go by. I think it will depend highly on what one is actually looking for, color/trans, things like that.

I think ASC converted the LS1 WS6 cars.

Yea it seems like SS's are not very rare at all!. There are some folks that give me grief about modifying my SS because it only has 11k miles on it. I say I bought a low mileage car so I had a known quantity and didn't inherit someone else's problems. If I wanted a collector it would have been something else. Now Im not saying these SS won't have some value down the road but its going to be a VERY long road. Gone are the days where a 20 year old car holds the same value and appreciation. They might have made as many SS in one year as they did all 1st gen camaros! lol

I think it would be the Firehawk, then the CETA WS6, the WS6, the LE 35th SS's, then just the SS's. Seems like the F-Bodies that are definitely the most sought after are the different variations of the WS6's and Firehawks, the SS Camaro's seem to come second to them.
Just to clarify, the 98-02 WS6's were sent to ASC instead of SLP I believe

I've been of the opinion that the SS and WS6 are nothing more than just another option for these cars. The "public" knew of them and they were not limited in availability. It just so happens that the Firebirds went to ASC and the Camaros went to SLP. In the summer time, I see more SS's and WS6's than I do Z28's and regular T/A's. They were the popular cars that people wanted.
The Firehawks are something a bit more special. They weren't advertised in the brochures, and they had more options than the SS's coming from the same facility. Granted, one could throw a bunch of Y2Y options on a SS, but the Firehawk came standard with the upgraded exhaust (and lid when it was available) rather than it being optional. I can't remember what else, but at the end of the day, it's really one's own personal opinion or preference.

Dont Forget The Blackbirds. Although Each Of those Are rare and had certain numbers built per year. There were ever only 50 Blackbirds made.
Then I Would Agree with TransAMWS.6's post

Everything is a personal preference when it comes to collectible cars. Rarity is certainly a factor but consider that for model years 2001 and 2002 there were more WS6 convertibles built than regular Trans Am convertibles. Almost double, certainly in '01. (396 regular T/A compared to 796 WS6). The regular T/A won't be more highly sought after or cost more. Not likely anyway considering how many 2nd or 3rd owners added on the WS6 hood for looks. I was obviously in the minority when I bought mine new. I didn't want the hood or need the advertised 15 additional HP for $3,000 extra. I still don't. Personal preferences.

WS6 Formula's were avail in 97- I got one in the garage. Not sure if this discussion was 98+ or not? Also- there was the Comp TA which was pretty rare too. I think they were sold through dealers as new cars
