I've always loved these cars. A guy was selling one locally and we made a deal on it. The car hasn't been taken great care of in it's 165k mile life but it doesn't appear to have really been abused. Moreso just neglected or owned by people who didn't know what they had.
Mechanically it's pretty sound, runs and drives great. It mostly needs cosmetics. I needed a new project to tinker with so this will be my new toy for a while as I slowly get her back into acceptable condition.
I ran across a thread a while back that told who or where to ask about finding the build number on one of these cars but I can't seem to find it anymore. One of the previous owners removed the badge, the floor mats, the trunk mat, and all paperwork that would should what car it is. I think the worst part is the hood they put on it. Makes me sick that they got rid of the WS6 hood.
Anyways, here are some pics and the vin if anyone can help me find some history on this car. I would love to be able to find the build number for it.
You could always call ASC. I had a buddy who bought one of these and later found out it was a Anniversary and a Pace car too. Nice find man. You could also be thinking about the website compnine.com but I dont know how good they are anymore

that sucks about the hood but its still a sweet find, props. I'll be glad to see that anniversary rolling the streets all fixed up. What are your plans for the car/build?
Thanks guys, I'll check those places for info. For now I want to get everything working properly and looking decent. My black car in a magnacharged M6. Since this one is an A4 I was thinking heads, cam, and stall. But a procharger sounds pretty tempting too...
The last WS6 SLP touched was built in '97, and they were reportedly SO disappointed in losing the WS6 contract to ASC in '98 that they didn't even bother tracking the WS6 build numbers for the '97s. What do you think they can tell anyone about a '99?
I didn't think it was SLP that had the info on the Anniversary cars. The thread I was reading said they went to ASC to get the WS6 package installed and then back to Pontiac to get the anniversary trim. I want to say the thread said to get a hold of Pontiac Archive Records but I cant't find the thread or get in touch with anyone that knows for sure :/
Nice find, I was in High School when those cars came out. I don't know, the Camaros were always a little polarizing because import guys hated them, Mustang guys hated them and so on. But ever one loved the ram air Trans Ams, especially, "The one with the blue wheels."

You are correct and i meant to put ASC. I had actually emailed them that night to get a build number for mine and i never heard back. Emailed them again today in hopes that ill get my info one day.
Front end collision at one time, and saved money by getting an aftermarket hood? If you are restoring, I would try to get a GM WS6 hood, you could get some good money for the aftermarket one.
