Default 475-hp Blackbird???

Saw a white one on the way to the gorilla farm today. Looked just like a regular Blackbird, but it said 475 HP on the hood. Anyone else seen one???

May have been sent back to GMMG for their Phase IIx package with different heads/cam that makes 475HP. There's a few Bergers out there that have had the upgrade done to them.

They are out there in very small numbers. Rare sighting. The h/c package is WAY overpriced, but he'll get back every penny and then some if he ever sells the car.

6995.00 WAY OVERPRICED???

You get LOADED Stage II heads, camshaft, pushrods, DynaTech SS longtubes/cats/Y pipe, Spec billet flywheel Install, LS1 Edit tuning, powder coated calipers/brackets on all 4 corners, painted valve covers, documentation and window stickers, warranty. The cars make anywhere from 430rwhp to 450rwhp. Seems somewhat worthwhile to me

WOW--THAT IS A DEAL--I'd be looking at at least 10,000 for that up here.

It's a heck of a deal when you figure parts+labor.

Nah...Just window shopping.

Actually, I work with my dad designing and building structural steelwork for a gorilla habitat here in north GA, somewhere along the line we started calling it the gorilla farm.

So 450ish to the wheels??? Dang, wish I could get them to do that on mine for $6995. They won't do it on a regular WS6 though, right?

Damn, I was told (not by GMMG) that it would cost around 8k+ for the heads/cam/labor. I thought THAT was overpriced. I stand corrected. It guess it helps to speak to the horse's head.

My comment came from a Blackbird owner in the special edition section.

That's awesome. I thought something like that would be way overpriced. Nice work Berger.

Technically.. it's GMMG. Berger is a dealership just like Earnhardt Chevrolet, and Carl "Black" Pontiac (Blackbird).....they sent their cars to GMMG to retrofit.

Way to go GMMG!

Is there any way to install stuff on "less important" cars like the Firehawk or WS6, SS?

The package is worth it and being done by people who care about what ther doing, and the dyno #s are real. If you could find a nice phase I, and up-grade. Money well spent with documentation

I keep debating to do my BB but not sure I want to mess with it since it was the Proto-type.....

I have also always wanted to know if GMMG would ever consider upgrading a fixed number of cars such as the Firehawks, WS6 etc.. I like how they keep the numbers limited to make it more exclusive. I think they agreed to do a limited number of 35th anniversary Camaro SS a while ago? I would be first in line if they were ever agree to upgrade my 02' WS6. One can dream right?

The Performance Edition 35th LE's were the ONLY cars that were modified after delivery to the customer by GMMG. All others were modified by GMMG and sold through either Berger, Earnhardt, Tom Henry or Carl Black. ZL1's were done by GMMG and sold through other dealers but not sure what the qualifications were for getting one. They'll only do upgrades on cars originally modified by them. There's LOTS of people out there that would like to send their cars to GMMG for mods but they won't do it. You'll just have to buy their exhaust and do the rest yourself.

Not quite! There are cars around that have been 'tuned up' by GMMG that were not sold thru dealerships.

Show me one. All the information I have read and been told by Berger owners is they will only do cars originally modified by them(except the 35 PE 35th LE's). If they're installing the parts on other cars then they're not getting any kind of special numbered edition that would make them worth any other car that has had heads/cam installed on them.

Wonder what kind of gas mileage he gets with that setup? Not that I'm a treehugging hippie or anywhere near it, but I do like getting better mileage than a V6 Honda Accord. If he's still getting 25-28 mpg, I'll look more into H/C with mine.
