It's all good Hawk, those are the only pictures I have of that car from the parade we were in not too long ago. However, there are more pictures of the car on http://capitalcityfirebirds.com/ if you'd like to check them out...

They made 42 purple ragtops, 2 of them were WS6s.
http://lair.evyl.org/1998-Firebird_P...on_Numbers.htm

What color interior to you have? I think there were 2 or 3 choices for the top color, too.

It's kinda weird for me because I see two every time I walk out of my house...

From what I've found out about my WS6, the purple ones were pretty early in the production run. My WS6 the #19 car converted at ASC, and it was the 6th of the purple ones. It was converted in February of 1998.

I e-mailed GMMG to ask about this car while they were still making them. I found out that the car started life as a Z/28 so it won't be listed in GM's production totals as an SS. It was the Tom Henry prototype. The 1 of 1 production car has been on ebay recently and is a vert with a fair number of miles and a re-paint.

I've seen one of those 40 purple T/A 'verts around town here (Ft. Wayne, IN), as well as one of the 6 gold WS6 'verts (the one I've seen has a white top).

BTW Doc, according to Bob Savage's VIN listing of Purple WS6s, one of those 10 coupes is a Formula (ASC #12), making your T/A 1 of 9.

That's bizarre... the guy from ASC that gave me the information on my car said that all 12 (10 coupes, 2 verts) were Trans Ams. There's been so much confusion over the history of these cars..

This was unusual because the Pontiac 75th package was only available to regular V6 Firebirds or Formula's.
I'm not sure what the 75th T/A's looked like but two is pretty rare.

oh, and just to be clear, the 75th is referring to Pontiac's 75th year...not Trans Am. I've had that discussion too many times hahaha
I have a 2001 Formula with the 75th Anniversary package. I can't find any numbers on the package, but my 2001 Formula is 1 of 507 for having the 3.23 rear.

Well, I'll caviat my statement by saying that I'm going by what was shown in his spreadsheet. It contained columns for the conversion date, VIN, ASC#, color and model (Formula or T/A). I added another column to my copy of the spreadsheet showing which cars were 'verts, which can be determined by the 6th digit in the VIN (3=vert, 2=coupe), but nothing in the VIN distinguishes a Formula from a T/A coupe. In a handful of instances, there were "Formulas" w/ VINs that indicated a 'vert body, but knowing that only two '98 WS6 'verts were Formulas and they were both red (and red cars were not included in Bob's spreadsheets), there was obviously errors somewhere (either the car was really a T/A and not a Formula, or there was a typo on the VIN#). So I can't say the info in Bob's spreadsheets are 100% accurate. However, I do seem to recall someone posting pics of this 1-of-1 Purple Formula WS6 a few years ago.

No idea.. I've never seen any pictures of a purple Formula, and have always heard they were all Trans Ams... I'm not saying that there's no way there could be a Formula out there, though.. the records on '98s are not real good. There very well could be...

Although I had been considering putting a WS6 hood on my Formula, and it might give people the impression that it was factory.

It would have to be a '98 to be a convertible Formula.. but they didn't make any Formula ragtops in purple, so that makes it 1 of 0 made. There were only 2 Formula ragtops, and they were both red.

If it was a real WS6, a Trans Am... in BPM.. it would be 1 of 2.

Fake WS6 T/A ragtop... 1 of 42.
