Fact is, there are a number of 1 of 1 cars. I read on eBay that a fourth gen NBM SS was 1 of 1 because it came with a stereo block off plate.
I like my white leather. Not real rare, but rare enough for me personally to enjoy: 778 white leather Camaros in '99.

I think the topic is a bit nebulous,as rare does not always equate to desirable. There are certainly a number of trim/color options that will make a car unique, but in time it's the unique performance optioned AND popular colored cars that will be the one's that will hold their value more-and that has been evidenced throughout the history of the Fbody. With the first gens the L72,L78,L89,or Z28 RPO cars are the most desirable, the early second gens it was the LT1 Z28's and ram air and SD ponchos, then and the last run W72 cars, and with late third and fourth gens it was the 1LE's that distinguished themselves from the tens of thousands of other production one's built.A Hugger M6 1LE SS is money in the bank,as it was a one year color, five were made, and most purists agree it was the last true year for the option-function AND form.JMHO

But...
They did make 13 Camaros in Sunset Orange Metallic in 2000, but the color wasn't offered until 2001.
There was also 5 Camaros built in Sport Gold in 1999, even though the color was discontinued during the 1998 model year.. Chevy had a contract with Days Inn that advertised giving away 5 gold 1999 Z28s, and the giveaway date was after the color was discontinued... so they had to build them to fulfill it.. the contract speficied a 1999 Z28.

for rare color combos on these cars - did GM specifically produce these amounts of rare colors, or is this just how they were ordered from customers?
for instance, say they made 10 SOM SS verts one year, did they make these because they were ordered, or did some exec decide to just make 10??
