How long was your hunt?
I have been looking for a WS6 Trans Am for what seems like forever so far I've been on the lookout a year to get exactly what I want. So far I've had a few that I have wanted but they have either been out of my price range, or too far away.
Didn't have much choice once they announced the retirement of the f-body
Good news: ONLY 5 PAYMENTS LEFT
I had a bunch of cash stashed away and was looking for a car... my original intention was to get rid of my pickup and buy a WRX as a daily driver. I looked for WRXs for like a month, and came up empty handed... every one I found was either gone by the time I could look at it, or wasn't as nice as it had been made out to be.
So one weekend I was at work, and was looking through autotrader as usual, and decided on a whim to see what was available in the way of 6-speed WS6's under $15K.
Bam. First car on the list. Bright Purple Metallic WS6 6-speed. Just went on sale the day before. 29K miles. $12K.
I had to do a double take on it... I've seen so many NBM cars get listed as purple that I didn't believe at first it was the real thing. So I called the dealer that had it... some tiny little car dealer in a podunk town in Wisconsin.
Sure enough... it was the real deal. So I put a deposit on it, and sent some friends in the area out to look at it for me... when they came back with positive reports, I bought it, and had it shipped back to Seattle.
So technically my hunt was so short that it never really even happened.

BTW- check out carmax like I did. They usually have them, but can be a lil high priced (cause they carry low milage clean cars, which for what they are are low priced. Got mine around $3-4000 below KBB)
it was listed on autotrader.com for about 9 months, but it was listed as a firebird, not a trans am. the dealer said, he wasnt sure why no one was calling about it. i didnt want to tell him he was listing a fully loaded 2002 WS6 as a firebird.
If you have the money, your wait isnt long.
Last week i started looking for an Anniversary T/A or a Comp, and so far i got 3 cars waiting for my feedback.
So, we get home that night and she has the salesman in the driveway with the car. She said when she saw the smile on my face driving it she had to get it for me. I drove it for 1 week before deploying. I can't wait to get home to drive it again.
