Question How long was your hunt?

How long did it take you to find your WS6 or SS?

I have been looking for a WS6 Trans Am for what seems like forever so far I've been on the lookout a year to get exactly what I want. So far I've had a few that I have wanted but they have either been out of my price range, or too far away.

Well honestly, I had to wait 10 years before I could afford the Firehawk (barely, w/excessively high monthly payments)

Didn't have much choice once they announced the retirement of the f-body

Good news: ONLY 5 PAYMENTS LEFT

I found my WS6 COMPLETELY by accident. True story.

I had a bunch of cash stashed away and was looking for a car... my original intention was to get rid of my pickup and buy a WRX as a daily driver. I looked for WRXs for like a month, and came up empty handed... every one I found was either gone by the time I could look at it, or wasn't as nice as it had been made out to be.

So one weekend I was at work, and was looking through autotrader as usual, and decided on a whim to see what was available in the way of 6-speed WS6's under $15K.

Bam. First car on the list. Bright Purple Metallic WS6 6-speed. Just went on sale the day before. 29K miles. $12K.

I had to do a double take on it... I've seen so many NBM cars get listed as purple that I didn't believe at first it was the real thing. So I called the dealer that had it... some tiny little car dealer in a podunk town in Wisconsin.

Sure enough... it was the real deal. So I put a deposit on it, and sent some friends in the area out to look at it for me... when they came back with positive reports, I bought it, and had it shipped back to Seattle.

So technically my hunt was so short that it never really even happened.

Why not tell us exactly what you are looking for. Maybe one of us will spot it for you? I saw a twin to my car that was for sale a month or so ago.

I wasn't even looking. It just drove into my life. He drove into the dealership I used to work for and wanted to trade it in. I drove out in his car before he was even fully signed up on his SUV.

I was gone!!!

It was about 5 minutes to drive down to my local dealership, fill out the order, and sign on the dotted line. THEN about a 2-3 month wait.

Alright I want to own a preferably 99-02 WS6 must be an M6, low miles, cheap price. like around kbb value. I preferably want to spend less than 15K. I can find what I want, but it always seems to be really far away, or by the time I see it its sold. I have been checking posts every night at ls1.com ls1tech.com cars.com autotrader.com the local swap sheet. Is there anywhere else I can turn? Also since its going into winter would you recommend getting one now or just waiting until spring? when do you think they would be cheaper? Thanks for all your help!

silver all the way!

BTW- check out carmax like I did. They usually have them, but can be a lil high priced (cause they carry low milage clean cars, which for what they are are low priced. Got mine around $3-4000 below KBB)

i found mine by accident as well.

it was listed on autotrader.com for about 9 months, but it was listed as a firebird, not a trans am. the dealer said, he wasnt sure why no one was calling about it. i didnt want to tell him he was listing a fully loaded 2002 WS6 as a firebird.

If you have the money, your wait isnt long.

Last week i started looking for an Anniversary T/A or a Comp, and so far i got 3 cars waiting for my feedback.

It took me 6 months of looking to find my 2002 T/A WS6. I wanted something with low miles. I found it in Autotrader and it had only 900 miles on it. It was a 7+ hour drive to go get. I have had the car for just over a year.

It took me about a week. After I sold my last TA and made some money off it, I went Firehawk hunting, I saw it in Autotrader and called the guy that day. I flew me and my friend to AZ and drove it home, with a stop off in Vegas on the way home of course.

Probably between 9 and 12 months. This is a little misleading, though. I had wanted an F-body for years, probably a decade. In 2003, I thought my finances were right, and I began looking for a Hugger Orange SS. Then, I was laid off, and the search ended. In early 2005, I began looking for an SS again. My search transitioned to Firehawks, though. Then, after 6 months of searching for and making offers on Hawks, I became frustrated and “settled” for a WS6.

Mine found me also. We were looking for a truck for the wife, saw the T/A and I convinced her to take a spin for fun. I already had an 02 Firebird and was planning on getting a T/A when I came back from Iraq.
So, we get home that night and she has the salesman in the driveway with the car. She said when she saw the smile on my face driving it she had to get it for me. I drove it for 1 week before deploying. I can't wait to get home to drive it again.
