There were only three 6-speed Formulas in the state of Texas at the time, I had to drive 5 hrs away to pick up my first LS1.

I really wanted a Formula Firehawk with those headlights!
Wow! this is really weird. I spotted a navy blue '99 Formula Firehawk at a local dealer and pulled a u-turn to check it out- it had come from a dealership in Texas!

I had been amazed by the '91/'92 Hawks but had missed out on the 4th gen cars until I saw that one. I had just gotten a computer and online , so I did a search and ended-up becoming first a lurker, and then a regular on the SLP board. That,of course led me to eventually ordering my '02 (very long story) and ending up owning the last one.

Ever see the Silver '98 Formula with the fixed headlights? It was a real sweetie.

I still wish someone would make us some nice aftermarket headlights like those, or at least dual projectors like the C6 has. That one company that makes the clear T/A lights are kinda ugly since they have a square bulb inside.

Without a hood like the '98 SLP prototype style hood those fixed headlights in those kits look too big anyway.

Kinda cool that you are selling your 98. I have the Red Hardtop Formula 98 Firehawk. I believe mine was the one that SLP thrashed. It looks like it is a ringer.

Very cool. I'm glad to hear that the car still exists. I know that the silver Formula is still around as is another red T/A, but I don't know anything about the last Formula and the last T/A. I did hear that the 3rd T/A hawk was wrecked but I'm not sure that's true.

I think years ago a picture of a pewter 98 and someone said it was Ed Hamburgers, I don't know. There were two formulas that I have seen in person. The other one was NBM. SLP had a misshap with the driver side quarter panel and did an in house fix. I have Ed and Dave Hamburger's signature on the radiator support that was signed at the Firehawk rally in Norwalk. I can tell you that my car had been well used "abused" when I bought it. But who care's, that what they are for I guess.

He didn't keep any cars for himself.

Dave, do you still know the fate of all of the '98s? Was the other T/A wrecked as I heard a while back?

Why couldn't you buy the full Prototype car? To much money with the fixed headlights? Or did it not meet Federal Safety Standards? I know I saw the Headlights on e-bay for an ungodly price

At the time, SLP would not sell the lights- period.

Not much has changed really, but I'll let Dave tell that part of it.

these prototype lights were on ebay for 25,000 a long time ago, maybe a year or so, they weren't aftermarket, i am 100% sure they were SLP, they had shots of the guy makin them and the shop at troy, and a certificat of authenticity, all that crap

Since Dave hasn't chimed in on this I'll tell you what the deal is. He listed the lights (yes, they are the real deal) to drive traffic to his ebay store - he doesn't expect to actually sell them. I'd love to see them re-united with the car, even if I'm not the one to do it.

Question is, would you really sell them? Wish I had $25000 burning a hole in my pocket.

If the Price is "Right", He will sell them. But who is going to pay that kind of money?

money is relative. Some guys see $25 bucks as a lot of money. Some guys see $25,000 as $25 bucks in the ashtray. lol

Wealth is a lifestyle.. let me explain...

A rich man spends... "invests" $1Million dollars on -ten- paintings@ $100,000 each.

A poor man would say, "Holy **** you just wasted $1Million dollars!"

The rich man would respond...," I didn't spend one penny, I get the pleasure of seeing fine art and when it's time to cash out I still have $1mill... and maybe more."

Like I said... and like the wise man "9 Ball in the corner pocket" said "money is relative," enjoy the quick breath of life while it here. "Get a life...style" ~Joshua
