Default New SS!!!!!

im going to look at buying an SS on friday, its an 02 with 56k miles sebring silver M6 of course. I called my insurance company to see how high my rates would go and i said its a Camaro SS but she said it came up as a Z28... is there anyway i can look at the car to make sure its an SS? it has the hood, spoiler, badges, wheels of an SS. also the car is said to have a recon title... what do you guys think of this, the guy is selling it pretty cheap because of the recon title and being a college student i want a low monthly payment so this seems to be the way to go if everything looks good. also wanted to know how to see if the motor is an LS6.

All SS cars are going to come up as Z28 on your insurance. This happens because GM never built an SS - they were all Z28 cars that were converted to SS cars by SLP.

If WU8 is a code on the sticker on the driver's side, it is a true SS. You can also call SLP with the VIN number and they can confirm for you.

Good luck with the new car!

actually i did look at that....i believe they have stipulations on year, mileage, etc. i tried to sell a reconstructed car and people ran like wild cats. lol it was funny actually bc i invested so much money into it they were getting a great deal. i tried to see about a loan from capital one for 10,000 they gave me an approval, then mailed me the check overnight, i read the fine print, if it was a 2000 model ( i was looking a mint 2000 z28) it had to have 40K on it or less. i was like WTF? then it also said that i had to buy the car from an affliated dealer. (one like chevy, ford, nissan, etc.) you better learn to read before you go spending someones blank check.

you probably got approved for a green check, i got a blue check which doesnt have all those rules that the green one does... i got a cosigner is why i got the blue check and my cosigner has the highest credit score possible. and as far as the 2000 model thing, my check was approved for 04-08 cars but if i wanted a car 03 and below then i would just have to pay 1% more APR. trust me bro ive learned to read...

having several salvage titles cars in the past, that were fixed beautifully, i will tell you, they can be hard to sell and get decent money for, people with good credit and money are picky as hell, i found that out the hard way. sell a clean title car, keep the salvage one for yourself. good decision about the z28.

is it true that if you wreck a car that has a salvage title that some states wont retitle it and insurance company's could give you a hard time. i have heard this but dont know if its true but i have never owned a salvaged titled car.

if you mean hard time like not giving you book value when you total it? then hell yes. i was paid for a salvage car two months ago and the ins. company did a vin check and offered me half of the book value and my lawyer said there wasn't **** he could do about it. about the not retitling it, im sure every state is different, so check to be safe. if you mean ins company like as in getting coverage, i dunno, geico never said anything to me, but i wasn't doing full coverage, just liabilty.
