All of the 2002 ZL1s also came with the hockey stripe, do you plan on adding it to the car? When i'm ready to do one it will be 1969 garnet red with the white manta and hockey stripes. I have a friend that owns a 2002 http://www.gmmginc.net/ Tom Henry camaro it's 1 of 1 painted 1969 (code 72) hugger orange.Thought I would be the first to clone a real one but you bet me to it, congrats. Post more pictures when you can.

The casting # for the ls6 block came right out of the Fall 03 Camaro Performance magazine.

From John Douro GM's Gen III/IV staff engineer.

The LS6 casting is was much stronger, but a big difference between the LS6 and LS1 was that the LS1 had a 28.5mm ventalation hole drilled through the center of all 5 bulkheads, close to the crank, for bay-bay breathing. This was deemen insufficient for the LS^, so a new design with a much larger, cast in ventilation hole through the 2,3, and 4 bulkheads towards the bottom of the cylinder bores on both sides was created. This was done on the 2,3, and 4 since they were the ones that had an affect on bay-to-bay breathing.

10-15% of all 01 f-bodies had the LS6 and 25% of the 02 F-bodies had it as well.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but someone spreads too much mis information. "LS6 does not exist" What's in the Z06?

My past posting has nothing to do with what I tryng to explain to you. The LS is what it is, yes there were changes and yes the ZO6 had the ls6 but all of these blocks originated from the LS1 (THE SAME BLOCK!) You would have to take your little phase 2 car apart to prove to me that Matt would take a LS motor out of a car just to put another one of the same back in. It maybe true but I just don't see it. And again... THE ZLs ARE WAY OVER RATED by people that pay to much for them.

That Berger Phase II seems like a great deal for $40K. I just hate the white interior.

Change the white interior and keep it. Put in color what you want.

The Performance Edition Camaro SS have not show up on ebay or Barrett-Jackson. LS6 shipped to GMMG for the ZL1 Camaro's. Most 2002 SS and all of the 35th Limited Edition had the LS6 block and intake. Since the LS1 was being phased out and the Camaro on Hiatas in 2002.

Yes you can keep the LS6 motor when doing the Phase 3, I did it is in my garage, also the person who said that the ZL1's are overpriced and overrated knows nothing about these cars I guarantee these cars will be worth more than the 1969 ZL1's are now plus some.

If anyone had a upgrade done from a phase 1 to a phase 2 and kept the ph 1 motor, that would that would determine if there was a engine swap on the phase2 ZLs. (Not from a ph1 or ph2 to a ph3...... thats oddvious) Thanks for the insight.

Here's the part # (NOT THE CASTING#) for a ls1 and ls6 block: 12561166
Direct replacement for 2001-2004 LS1 and LS6 Corvette 5. 7L
Production 319-T5 aluminum block with iron sleeves
Production oiling system
6-bolt iron main bearing caps
9. 240 deck height
For use with LS1/LS6 cylinder heads only
3. 89" finished bore (99.0mm)
This is the same block used in the corvette, camaro and trans am.

No, you kept the engine because it was available. If you had gone from a phase1 to a phase 2 there would'nt be an extra engine to keep. Yes the C5R is a different engine, thats why you have the original in your garage.
Put yours on ebay with no reserve and see what it sells for. The problem with these cars are the people who own them and are to affraid to put them up for sell. I bet if you had a chance to get you money back out of yours you would sell it. And for the people that won't put a price tag on there ZL means only one thing..... they are worth nothing or they think that they can actually get twice what they are worth. I don't think your kids grandkids will ever see these cars sell for more than the original ZL, REMEMEBER.... the original ZL was a factory made car, not these, and there was no confusion on what engine was in them, they were all true to one thing the 427. No phases, no upgrade, NO CONFUSION!

Default GMMG cars

Camarosss, you are out of touch with reality my friend, first of all, the majority of people who own a ZL1 or any GMMG car have the car because they want the best and dont really care about the re-sale at this point, our bank accounts far exceed the value of these cars, also there is really no diffrence from the 1969 ZL1 and today ZL1 except for 200 H.P. CD power windows, PB, PS they are and always will be COPO cars, The ZL1's are selling for over $140,000 if you can find one. I think you are just upset because you cant afford one of the 630 H.P. beasts, only time will tell what they will be worth 20 years down the road, my money is on the GMMG cars, if someone offered me $200,000 for my car I would not even consider it because you can not find another one to replace it, camarosss I bet you have never even driven one of these cars

Yea there is a difference about 1 mil. The only 2002 ZL that I have seen sell for over $100,000 was the one that is on autotrader right know. It was priced at $119,000. It was sold from Wagner's Classic Cars out of Bonner Springs , KS. The person that owns it now had it on autotrader about a year ago for $165,000 and it did'nt sell. He's asking $150,000 now and this is one of the original phase 3 car 1of 1 Garnet red, Not one that has been upgraded.

Your right, you dont see many of these cars traded on ebay, most are sold to private collectors, you are also not looking hard enough many have sold for over 140,000, That is a good question, how many GMMG cars do you own camarsss? we all want to know since you seem to be a expert with these cars
