I just want to say I think it a completely kick in the face to the true Firehawk heritage being as it has 4 doors AND the offering of a V6 Firehawk..... I will have to take some time to write up a full post eventually...

Sorry, but there is no more F-body. GM will not build a Firebird or a Trans Am for us to use the name on. The Firehawk name/trademark is the property of SLP and ever since we got our hands on the G8 a year ago, we've been planning this package and it's going ahead. The reaction of the non-Firebird owners was more than convincing this past weekend at Indianapolis and hopefully we'll see the new Firehawk on a few car covers in the next few months.

I just drove the 12 hours back from Indy. This is real and we've been planning it for the last year.
I will comment more tomorrow, but for now the actual Teaser brochure that I gave away at the CamaroZ28.com banquet and at the track:
I cannot get into performance questions/answers quite yet, but lets just say the performance on our Supercharged model is more than impressive, 50 state legal and fully warranted.
The reaction was overwhelming with the exception of a few snide remarks from past F-Body Firehawk owners who obviously think we should have let the name die.
*Please note the circled "R" next to the Firehawk logo - The Firehawk logo/script is a registered Trademark of SLP.

To Mr Hamburger and SLP:
All I say is good luck....you gonna needed. You established the name and it became a legend....in the F-Body. That recycling thing your doing it only shows poor judgement on your part. You own the name....you dont own the car enthusiasts. They will pass judgement on this abomination....This will be the biggest backfire in the car world.

I guess when the economy is down, you've got to do whatever it takes to make a buck. For your business sake, hopefully this doesn't go the way of the Thunderbolt.
I'm very surprised, and I'm not a former Firehawk owner. "Snide Remarks" from 4th gen owners... what do you expect? The car was, and still is special to many owners. The loyalty I'm sure many people have to the Firehawk name - and SLP - is sure to be tainted. I'm sure that your marketing department (I'm assuming you have one) decided it'd be great "brand recognition" and that people with the money to buy will care less about the previous Firehawk name.
Sorry Firebird Firehawk owners - your cars just became more watered down.

Ya I know. With all respect, the term "Firehawk" was most likely derived from "Firebird". I don't care if it is a registered trademark of SLP or not. I used to enjoy driving my car knowing it has a certain special flare to it that SLP did such a fine job of working on. However now I just think that SLP just kinda disrespected owners of current firehawks by slapping the name on a four door sedan.

$2 - I'm sure "non-Firebird" owners would be ecstatic. They, however, could care less if it called "Firehawk", "Mudslinger" or "Payday". It's a hopped-up G8 and that's all that matters to them.
$3 - I'd expect the mail room at SLP to be flooded.
I'm sure the package is great. I'm sure even the current Firehawk owners think it's cool. It's the naming that spoils it. Money talks, and bull$hit walks (to the bank in this case).
Who wants to start the name-change petition? Someone has to be facetious, so it might as well be me.

No one would bash the idea if you just came up with a new name- how hard is that? - people on here already gave suggestions. And a damn V6 model - thats just terrible!!

I'm pretty sure Firestone had the Firehawk name prior to SLP.
Here's a 1985 ad from Firestone:

So when is the Firehawk Aztek being introduced?

I hope someone starts the "change the name" petition thread....
And another thing....not only economy is down but SLP is also upgrading a car with very poor sales. That in itself has failure written all over. It will be a short lived, forgettable car.
