Default Radar Detector install

Recently decided to invest in a radar detector. I'm not a big or habitual speeder, but I'd like to invest in something to help my clean driving record stay clean. I've been looking heavily into the Escort Passport 9500ix units, but want a completely stealth install, such that it cannot be seen. I looked into tucking it into the headliner above the rearview mirror, but was wondering if the tint strip or it being tucked in there will negatively affect the detector from doing its job. Does anyone have any experience with this, or know of any other locations it can be tucked away without taking away from functionality? I did a search and didn't come up with much. Also open to installed solutions like the Qi45 if anyone has any experience or suggestions in installation into our cars.

This should be interesting to see. Most people, including myself, dont 'hide' them. Unless its illegal where you love, i wouldnt worry about it. Also id think about a higher mounting point as it makes it more effective.

It's not illegal where I live, but in the event that you do end up pulled over (LIDAR, pacing, aircraft, etc), a detector up on the windshield takes away any chance you had at just getting a warning.

Go with the blend mount and Valentine1.. I have a Valentine1 that hasn't been updated in 3 years, and I can still pick up the new charger police from over a mile away running quick trigger radar. I was so amazed at it. It's a little pricy, but very much worth it, and if you get the concealed display I've seen it installed in the gauge area.. Haven't done that part myself but I plan on it. That radar blows my mind every time (seeing as I was use to the mediocre performance of Cobra detectors) The V1 doesn't even give off false signals. Completely blows the Passport 8500Xi that I used to use out of the water.

With the concealed display, where can you mount the V1 to be out of sight from cops and/or possible thieves?

Ive got the Escort REDLINE...cause i moved to VA.

let me tell you...the REDLINE is one badass detector!!!! I travel for my work and I drive my TA

I have it mounted above my rear view mirror and if they are on ...im picking them up

Up high detects better ....down low helps detect scatter Laser hits but more than likely , you get hit with laser and your speeding......your fucked!

Best this is a blend mount, hooks over your rear view mirror and actually not very noticable. It has easy capabilities of taking it out and putting it back in and you don't have to worry about those stupid suction cups. I've seen people put it between their steering wheel and pedals, but it's pointless down there. I've seen the concealed display in the cubby hole under your HVAC controls and inside the gauge display. When you hook that up the main unit doesn't light up so it's inconspicuious. If you decide to hard wire it (which I am doing today) you won't have wires running around everywhere which really helps alot.

This is what it will look like
