ok saw my first ssr in person on the stree. i was sitting at a light (4 lane road)he rolled up next to me. i glance over check out the ride im a pritty big fan of it nice stlye love the elcameno through back.. he looks at me reves his engine it sounded good throughty deep v8 i was shure of it.
he makes a hand gesture pointing to the road infront of us as if to say 'lets go' i jump the line a litte just to see if his serrious and he did the same... so i knew he was intrested.. so light turns we do a run to 70 i walk him like it was nothing.....
am i wrong here i thought for shure they were putting the ls1 in them... i dident think they were that heavy... yeah i have some stuff done to my car but its nothing id call a hotrod. that and lets face it my driving skill is nothing special....
so whats the deal did they detune the ssr like crazy or did they throw the 3800 in it.... it sounded way to deep to be the 3800?

NOoo, I seen the tests they've done, I wuz going to buy one if it had the ls1, its got the 5.3L, but it weighs like a truck and for some reason cant put down the 330 hp, they were running 16 flat, what a crock, I wuz hoping for a low 13 sec vehicle when I first saw them, but I'm not dishing out 40k for *** butter, the gto will be a better challenge!

I saw an SSR a few weeks ago...but for 40K I don't think Chevy will sell too many. I hope it doesn't end up like the Lincoln Blackwood but that's what I'm predicting. I don't understand why GM doesn't get into the hot-rod truck segment and compete with the Lightning and SRT-10. I read somewhere that that segment is small and not very profitable, but the segment they're going after with the SSR can't be any bigger.

I have actually seen the prototype single cab SS....it was at the chevy dealership here in Jacksonville. Bunch of the head directors were around talking about it....I don't think it will go into production but if it does then it won't be for a few years.

The funding from the F-Bodies went right to the Chevy SSR after the F-bodies were put on hiatus. I can't stand the cars 1) their performance is terrible and 2) they indirectly killed the F-Body. **** 'em.

they had such madd potential..
the reason why they killed the f-body is because they thretened there big money sports car the vette.witch is the same reason why they killed the ferios. the 350 proto type ferio out preformed the vett in 86. lets face it if there is a 30hp diffrence and a $20K diffrence between a high end f-body and a vette most people are going to buy the f-body... ok so maby im exadurating but fact is the f-body was cutting into vette sales..
so it only makes sence that they make the ssr a puss so #1 they have some place to go with it a special performance edition. and #2 to garentee that there will never be any compatition with the vette. now this last reason is just specualtion on my part... if they made the turck psycally bigger it would be compeetin with the lightnings and the srt 10s witch are much bigger trucks.. im thinking they just want to beat the snot outta the extreems and rangers.
like i sed before i love the style i like the elcameno throw back but i hate how much of a puss they made it.

hum... if its the engine that every ones saying it has 5.3l then the only way i can think to make it faster is gutt the drive train and throw the ls1, borg warner t-56 and a decent rear end in it.... then it would be somthing you can work with..... im just pissed that they dident to at least that much for us from the factory.

yeah pretty shitty on gm's part, but you have to look at the ergonomic and economic parts of the truck also.
