02 CETA - vs - 572 whp 08' GT-500
Went to Ottos tonight after had thought weather would be too bad. The evening turned out pretty well and called a few people to come join me. One was a guy I met a couple weeks ago in this GT-500.
His mods that I know are a smaller pulley, full exhausts, and a good tune from which he told me had dynoed last week at 572 whp.
We agreed to have a go at it after we left with me spraying a 75 shot. Turned the bottle on and got my engine warmed up just in time to hit the road. Got going and we slowed to 50...he jumped initially so I waited to re line up. Tried again and he jumped as soon as I down shifted. (My car is loud and he thought I hit it when down shifted). He got a length off the jump and was pretty close through the end of 2nd, went to third and began a slow pull. By the end of 3rd I had pulled to within a 1/4 car of him. Shifted to 4th and everything changed...my car began a strong pull overcoming him by 1/2 and he shut it down with me starting to walk away. About 50-125 here
Tried again at 70 and he again jumped a bit gaining 1/2 car and we held that until 4th. Shifted into 4th and again started pulling hard...he let off as I came up by him. About 70-115 here
Tried one more run from around 55...dropped into 2nd and he did nothing. jumped the car and he stayed back, and just as I went to 3rd thinking he was done he hammers it and jumps me again. I stayed in 3rd and lost ground as my rpms were low. Stayed about 1 car behind through 3rd, but again in 4th started pulling significantly..he let off as I was about 1/4 car back coming up strong. About 55- to 110 here or so.
Very close matchup in 2nd and 3rd, but my car was stronger in 4th. Beautiful car (his was black with the charcoal stripes), and a super nice guy. Left my video camera on the ledge outside my back door, so no videos but my Son was with me and was pretty psyched.

It was a fun run...pulled over with him for a few minutes and visited for a bit...was fun. He is putting a smaller pulley on next week and claims it will dyno 610-615 after. Will run him with a 100 shot then and should be fun as well.

I did a quick search and one dyno yielded 435 RWHP stock. full exhaust, tune, and pulley being a 175~ RWHP gain is ridiculous.

I saw his dyno sheet (corrected)..was a verbal conversation, and those were the mods I know about...could be other things I don't know about...don't know. 435 that you saw to his 572 is a 137 hp increase, which I can believe. He is running quite a bit more boost now than what it was stock.
Pulled them up as well...stock the car puts out 8.5 lbs of boost..he told me that now it is 15+. not sure exactly now but do remember it was at least 15. 7 lbs of boost will normally have pretty dramatic impacts on horsepower ratings...I have a GN and can attest to that.

I never have gotten it tuned since adding the spray, and it is running a bit rich right now. Changed the plugs to a bit colder one, but want to take a peek at the timing now. I also put a set of stock (reworked/milled) heads on and want to see if the dyno number has changed from last time.

His next mod is just a smaller pulley than the one he has, isn't it? That'd make it the 175 that I was thinking.

Hello,
Without getting into a "my ***** is bigger than yours" contest, I just wanted to add a few comments regarding Matt's "kill".
Matt's ceta is a quick car, and not to mention, good looking!!
[QUOTE=02txceta;10736603]Went to Ottos tonight after had thought weather would be too bad. The evening turned out pretty well and called a few people to come join me. One was a guy I met a couple weeks ago in this GT-500.

I've never showed my dyno sheet at Otto's, as that is not something I carry in the car

We were side by side from anywhere from 5 to 8 seconds before running, so one would assume that is enough time to select the gear of choice
Tried again at 70 and he again jumped a bit gaining 1/2 car and we held that until 4th. Shifted into 4th and again started pulling hard...he let off as I came by him and pulled out front. About 70-115 here
Tried one more run from around 55...dropped into 2nd and he did nothing.
I was concerned as the wife saw sparks coming from your left front??jumped the car and he stayed back, and just as I went to 3rd thinking he was done he hammers it and jumps me again.

I don't know about the coming up strong bit, as you were always behind me
They were fun runs, but I always hesitate to call ANY street racing a kill. The only sure kill is at the track!!
Have a good one, Guys!!

Welcome to LS1tech.
I actually like to hear the "other" side of kill stories, there is always another side.
