Killed by a Escort
So I was on my way home from a friends house last night and a Candy Green 90's Ford Escort ZX2 pulls up next to me at a light. Rolls down his window, looks over and starts reving the engine. I am looking over at him in disbelief thinking "do you see what I am driving?". But what the hell, gas is cheep right now so I give him a 5K rev back . Doesn't seem to intimidate the guy in the least, he still has a big ol grin on his face and seems pleased that I will actually race him.
Slept a little at the light so the escort got a car and a half jump off the light , I got eager and dumped the clutch too fast and spun a bit in first gear, pulled it up to about 4500 and banged into second gear, by this time that jolly roger sour apple candy colored escort is just pulling away from me. By the time I got to the end of third gear I just gave up and let him go, no way I was gonna catch him.
Don't feel bad about loosing though, since this was in my 19 year old honda accord beater, bone stock with about 300lbs in the trunk at the time.
Guess its time to put vtec or a 500 shot of nawz on my car. Think the welds on the intake and the floorboard will hold that big of a shot with sufficient tuning?

Well, I will be happy to race your camaro against mine as soon as I am done getting it painted ( https://ls1tech.com/forums/paint-bod...er-thread.html ) and will post up the results of that race. In the meantime I will continue having fun with my beater.

I've been on this site since '02 after I got my 99 Z28, but I can see how my join date and posts could be mis-leading.
