Yeah f bods are WAY underrated. I would say the GTO has about a 30 rwhp advantage. F bods should have been rated at about 350 crank not 305. Thats notthat much difference and the weight couple with 245s make it a drivers race.

Possibly, but what do stock 6.0 goats put down to the rear wheels? If I had to guess, bone stock my car probably laid down 250 at the rear wheels. You are right on about the weight and lack of a big tire. That coupled with the IRS, really hamper the goat. But the funny thing is, the LS2 vettes aren't as strong as you would expect either. Not sure what it is, but they struggle against the LS1 cars out here. THe LS3 vettes??? that's a different story.

I don't understand the point of this argument here. Both cars are lsx powered why are we bashing them. bracketracer your comparing a 4000 lbs. luxury model sports car to your 3500 lbs. 98 z28, which could even be a stripper model. GM underrated the ls1 at 305HP it's more like 350HP. An ls2 is rated fairly well at 400HP. That extra ~500 pounds plus IRS makes a big difference at the track. Using ricer math 100 lbs. = 10 HP. Do the math and you have one hell of a race with the advantage the the f body because of its SRA.

MY other friend has a lid only 00' z28. Were going to run the gto again and hopefully post up a video.

Your car probably laid down ~270 to the wheels. The gears and stall are sucking up quite a bit of horsepower.Ls2 vettes and goats are less likely to be modded and even small mods for an lsx motor make a big difference. My friends dads stock ls2 vette was dead even with with a 12.5 second mach 1 from a dig.

Great, can't wait to see it. Your ricer math doesn't translate to the track though. That rule gets blown out the slower you go. And no, my car is a full optioned Z28

My car with the 18s on it, everything else stock, put down 262, with 303 torque. I think it was uncorrected for the humidity and elevation and everything. What kind of dyno where you on Bracket? I was on a AWD mustang dyno when I had mine done in Tucson.

LS2 GTOs normally will put down 330 - 350 somewhere, at sea level of course. LS1 f bodies put down around 305 - 320 at sea level.

I wish I could find a stock LS1 to run and get it on video around here.

the gto propaganda is amazing, unfortunatley the ratio of gtos to f-bodies on the streets only perpetuates the amazing misinformation.

i'd be willing to run as well, i even have a little extra weight with the sound system. so it would put me toward the mythical 4000lb+ weight.

My trap speed is also 108 but you have to look at gearing, converter, tire size etc. I beat lots of cars that come across at 108 plus. When you have traction problems, your done, especially on the street.
DA was normal 1300-1700 in Fontana by January.

but let me show this slip then, from a fellow LS2 Goat owner, recent run in ARIZONA, mods are: Full exhaust w/ 3/4"' LTs, P&P 92mm TB/Intake, 4,200 stall, DRs, and the DA is included in the slip.

I don't see why you guys get so defensive when an LS2 goat can run about the same with more weight, the LS2 is a lot more stronger than the LS1 Motor, and LS3 > LS2, LS7 > LS3, if something GM did really good was to differientate this damn motors so there is no doubt about the power capabilities in any of them

More often than not, a 416 will be a LS3 based motor. And wow, lots of misinformation and down right dumb *** comments in this thread. Not even gonna start......

Yea, I figured 416 is mostely ls3 based. When I talk about future plans to people, I tell them ls3 based...just this thread about GTOs, and their ls2...I just threw that out there. Fine....I want a ls2 based 402 one day. Sound better? lol.
