There is a guy in town who has a EVO in his shop who is always talkin smack to me, he brought the EVO buy, its built by Alamo motorsports and has bigger turbo,cams,exhaust, says it does 400hp, Im not sure if thats to the wheels or the fly, and a shot of ZEX in the back. Im wondering if i can take this guy on a roll since he has AWD and i dont have slicks and a 12bolt. I ve raced a AWD Talon with a T20 Garrett turbo before and he barely pulled on me after 100mph, and I mean barely! What do u think my chances are from a 40 or 70 punch. I tired of this dude talkin smack about domestics. He has a 700rwhp supra but im not that crazy to run that, he'd have me for lunch, so I think I have a better chance against the EVO. What do U guys think. Im gettin my TR224 the 28th so I might wait so I have a better chance.

I think that if the best u are running is a 13.6, your going to get your *** kicked.

Yea man defiantly, your times should be much lower with your mods. Hows your driving? You might need a good tune. With your cam I defiantly think you should be able to pull this guy. He is losing alot through the driveline because of his AWD. Have fun man and good luck.

my driving is alright, it was my worn out DR's that night, I had no traction off the line, had to peddle all the way through 1st and halfway through 2nd. I know its an Excuse but I let my friend drive who is way better then me and he had the same problems. but on a highway roll i think i might have a chance?

That evo is a 13.1-13.3 car bone stock, with 400 supposed horsepower and the squeeze you might get smoked. Hope he can't drive, b/c he has the advantage. I don't know why your car isn't faster and that's not a knock on your ride but it should be a 12.60- 12.80 car. Check my sig- my car doesn't have near as much stuff on it as yours. Maybe it's a tuning issue like the other guy said- I might wait for the cam if I were you. In any event good luck.

reguardless of if hes puttin 400 to the wheels or the fly, you will loose if he knows how to drive. Going from a roll and hes already gonna be spooled up and ready to rock. sorry to tell ya man but u better not race him, either that or get some scuba gear.

question. this "400hp" of his, has he any proof of such, or is he just like "well, i put on mods, so it must have more hp, and since it had almost 300 to start, 400 is probably what it has now."

chris liberman himself dropped several thousand worth of mods into an evo, including the bigger turbo, and managed to get it to dyno 288 horsepower at the wheels.

i'm not saying you can't get 400hp out of an evo, far from it, i'm just saying that import racers tend to... inflate hp. just like they ALL run 10 seconds.

Yea, I know my times suck, and I know I should have dynoed more but it was 105 that day and I was runnin a 13.1-13.2AFR, thats why I bought the MAFT, but I havent dynoed it since. I know those mits can be quick, that Talon I ran is a High 11sec car on race gas, had a built motor along with that monster Turbo, But how much HP does a AWD system eat?

I agree as well, however, make sure after you drop in the cam, bet some money on the race. A cammed LS1 should run a 400 hp Evo. AND REMEMBER THE DRAG RADIALS!

You cant go by these bullshit magazine quarter mile times for the evo 13.1-13.3 = bullshit, at the track I didnt see 1 evo break out 14-15 seconds with mods. The HKS evo8 has around 500hp and manages a whopping 12.999 and I was sure that was with mario andretti driving not some punk *** kid. Race him and you will win.

evos respond very well to mods. I was at the track one time and saw an evo with temp plates on it pulling 12.7's. i spoke to the guy and asked what he had. He upped the boost and had a catback on the car. This is just my .02, be careful.

Darren: i believe this is the same Evo your talking about.. it has to be. run the guy on the highway.. AFTER you do the cam.. that HKS package cam/turbo upgrade package does have another evo putting down 436rwhp and 500 on spray.. it ran 11.8 i believe on motor..

but of coarse like most AWD cars it has a low trap speed for the 1/4 time.. so best bet is a highway run. good luck bro

it will run 13s..bnot because of the mag. but because a light car, AWD, and with 250hp is good enough for that. the real avg time is like 13.8s.

u will lose, unless his car is horribly tuned or something which i doubt by that 700rwhp supra he has.

i dunno i say ..from a roll ls1's are wicked ...itd be a damn good race ..just run him from your third gear
