Default My Bird vs. '06 Saleen Extreme

My fiance and I were coming home from dinner on our 9 year anniversary. On the 2nd to last light before getting home, came across a '06 Saleen S281 Extreme. Car sounded really really good, and could here the slight sound as he cruised of the supercharger. As we were rolling up to the light (green), I downshifted from 5th to 2nd the Hankooks chirped once and just propelled me forward. He darted around some traffic to catch up, and we got the next light red. So I told him he had a pretty sweet car, and he complemented mine. In the quick redlight discussion he confirmed the blower, and had upgraded lots of parts for the motor (don't recall) and was running 13.5lb boost, and said he was at 550hp. I'm not to familiar with the newer mustangs, so your opinions are welcome there.

Well, light turned green, I took off normal, as I figured him being an older guy, he wouldn't do anything. Then next thing I know, I hear him laying some rubber down so I just punch it in first, speedshift into 2nd, and 3rd and shut it down around 90-100 as we were catching traffic ahead at a good pace.

Well, he got that little jump on me, and ended up only half a fender on me or so, and he neither pulled me, or I pulled him. I was pretty impressed with my bird, as I rarely race anyone, especially on the street. What impressed me more was my fiance cheering me on from the passenger seat! "GO MY LUV! GO!GO!GO!" And commented afterwards, that was AWESOME, and that I did really good. LOL Because she was listening to all his mods/upgrades, so thats why she gave me that rating.

So I guess I lost, even though I started lower in the RPM's out of the powerband. (shrug)

Anyways, thought I'd share this. I told my Uncle about it, who is on the forum as well. Not quite sure he believes me, but thats cool, I got my fiance as a witness!

Hope everyone is having a good Friday night!

I want so say good death so bad.......... but I can't for the life of me see how you managed to stay with a car that should trap 115-117mph or better in the 1/4.

Oh I forgot anything can happen on the street.... so good death.

Maybe a driver mod on your part??? No way you hung with him and your mods though unelss something was wrong with his car or he had no idea what he was doing, especially with him getting the hit first.

If it lost to a bolt-on LS1, I'm gonna say it wasn't an S281-E. Just a regular S281 S/C. Good run OP, anything can happen on the street

There is one running around town here, I'd like to catch up to it but lately it seems like my car spends more time on jackstands then the asphalt.

Good death OP.

I'm just going off what the guy said and the badging. When I looked them up briefly this morning, he has all the things an extreme would/should have.

Maybe he didn't know how to drive it, I dunno. I'm pretty damn efficient with my 6th speed. If I still had my Formula, I know by how the run was going I would have pulled him.

We all know if you can't drive your car worth a damn, you can have plenty more power than the other guy, and still potentially loose. Atleast that is what I would say and believe.

Some punk emo kid tried telling me his Tacoma S runner newer body style ones was supercharged from the factory and had 450 horse. Light turned green and i put 2 cars on him before 50. Came to the next light and i asked how much hp did you say you had again?

Yes this is totally possible. This is what I usually will do. I'll make up some crazy numbers hoping the other guy will back out, if he doesn't I will resort to making fun of his mother. Lastly, if neither work I will kick his knees in and run. This is my tactic for street racing.

dude i spit all over my screen A-hole!

but in all seriousness, my buddy works at the car dealer and claims outrageous things about cars that 95% of people would laugh at, but there is always that 5% of people who believe everything they hear.

Gullible isnt in the dictionary.
