Default C5 bolt on vs. 300C SRT (modded)

I guess I see no action for a long time, but my brother-in-law who is in town for two weeks gets 2 runs against a 300c SRT and S63 Benz.

He said the run against the benz was a short distance and he said he didn't think the guy knew what he was doing, because it wasn't close.

As for the Modded 300 (C), the owner claimed he was pushing 425hp at the wheels. He said car sounded awesome and had nice wheels.

They ran from a dig to 80mph and by the time he hit 80mph C5 had 2 cars on the SRT. He said the owner was cool and they both complimented each other on their cars, before and after the run.

Mods of my car are in sig.

sweet runs.

it doesn't take very much to get the SRT to 425whp. intake, exhaust, and a good CMR dyno tune oughta do it. what kind of mods on the vette?

I really thought the SRT would be the winner on this one...good kill then!

Good runs! Sounds like the SRT was spatting stock #'s to the engine not the wheels

I'm wondering that myself. I haven't seen any CMR tunes at 425rwhp unless, and I'm guessing here, LTs along with pure 100 octane, undiluted by pump gas.

80mph is less than a 1/8th and given the TC and whatever 60ft the two managed to get it is very plausible.

you should talk to Immo over on the charger boards. several of us were at DTP getting tuned the day he put down 441hp with 4th gear pulls. as far as i know he was the only one who did 4th gear tuning. i baselined at 405hp/410tq @170 mph in 4th w/intake and xhaust. tuned in 3d due to over speed errors w/baseline if 378hp/376tq and ended up with 404hp/395tq in 3d with my timing off 2*(bad gas). that translates roughly to 430+hp in 4th. i went back in Nov. for a hp competition and dynoed again without the tune @ 32* temp and put down 412hp/425tq w/4th gear pulls. i accidently for got to reprogram after maintenance @ Dodge and didn't realize till after the first pull and low #s. sure enough the ole Predator said "last tune written original backup". but this is the second eng in the car and the SRT guys brought the new one and installed it themselves or so i was told. one can potentially gain 40whp w/ just a u/d pulley or xhaust, intake and a Predator and that should put you somewhere around 415whp depending on the combo that is used. which would explain why a CMR tune is so much better than the canned tune. if you were to buy the SRT-8 eng as a crate eng they are conservatively rated @ 450hp. a good tune to milk the eng and some minor mods will fix that. i could always e-mail you my tune but i don't think it would work for ya.

I read his posts, and wasn't aware it was in 4th gear. My 398/422 91oct and 413/432 96oct tunes were both in 3rd gear. No one has been able to answer what the difference is for me, can you? I realize 4th is a 1:1.

I would expect he would dyno similar to us in 3rd gear and IIRC his track times confirm it. What is the consensus on the U/D pulley?

Either way, I doubt the OP's race was against a guy making 425 Rwhp.

PM sent. oh yeah, around the shop during the competition the pullies seem to have satisfied the owners, but on the dyno we couldn't see much of a difference.

The stall in the vette would have given a huge advantage over the 300 in a 0-80 race (assuming that the vette had a nice set of drag radials that would hook well on the street). I bet the SRT would have trapped near the same mph in the quarter and may have even closed the gap. My wife's SRT is equal to (or likely faster than my Trans Am) in a roll race on the street but the 3500 stall and drag radials allow me to put several car lengths on it at the drag strip.

OP: What does the vette run at the track?

The Vette has Z06 Wheels and tires, Goodyear F1s. But I think you are right, my car is nasty off the line, as long as you feather it just a bit. Needs more power up top....

When I had the stock 2.73 gears it was a dog off the line...... Now I can smoke the tires with a good 1-2shift..
