Default 2010 Camaro SS vs BMW 335XI with JB3 Tune

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJR9L5EOoL4

Saw this posted on another site. That 335 driver is always practicing at the strip. He is running Race Gas and a race map on hs JB3 tune, catless downpipes, and DP back exhaust. He's basically running about $2700 of bolt on's/tune.

Says the Camaro SS was completely stock.

This race was an 1/8th mile: 7.705 to 9.000
Hard to see the finish from the camera vantage point. If I find what the 335 has been running in the 1/4 mile recently I will post it up.

** Edit - The 335's best time on those mods is 12.18s@117.46. I believe this is his dragtimes entry: http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-335xi-Timeslip-18017.html

That's a fast *** BMW! Those 335's are very cool cars. That's very close to what my car runs, so I guess now I know how I'll do against the new camaro, lol.

The only problem with the 335i's is that it's basically impossible to swap up to bigger turbos without serious custom work and a lot of money.

That beemer is pretty quick but it seems to me that he's hit a wall as far as future potential.
12's at 117mph for that kind of money he spent is great, but that's probably it for him and that's with race gas...

That being said, that Camaro got SPANKED

Fast Beemer! He has some 11 sec timeslips posted up on dragtimes as well. Add some nitrous and see if we can get that Beemer into the 10's.

Still like the look of the new Camaro.

If you want a 10 second car then that'd be a problem, but for alot of people a high 11/low 12 at 117 is enough, especially in a car with as much luxory as a BMW. I'm not one of these people, but I'm just saying...lol.

I am one of those people lol. I want a 4 door car for my next one....just torn what to get. Gas mileage (cobalt ss/tc) or something in the SRT-8 line up, or one of these when the prices come down. But mid-low 12s is enough for me if I have all the luxury pieces intact.

that's one fast bimmer, however 335s have been known to have problem hitting 11 with stock turbo, simply because they're too small.

I definitely wouldn't mind getting my G8 to that point. I probably would have to go the extra little bit and try to hit an 11, but I think that'd be plenty fast for that car since I have my Camaro. For your choice, I love the turbo Cobalts, but I wouldn't get one if you want a 4-door. Get something bigger. I like the SRT8 Chargers and 300C's, but I really like the SRT8 Magnums.

There is a place in Miami called ASR engineering that has fabricated a twin turbo upgrade that fits in the stock housings. They are using custom cartridges from Garrett.

Vishnu Tuning flew in for a few days from LA and built some maps, did some testing, went to a raceway, and they were able to get over 500whp. The track was not setup for timing but the rumor is high 10's with Meth/Race Gas. ASR has it's own bolt ons you can buy, or some of the existing bolt ons that people have already purchased will make the grade (Intercooler, Downpipes, Intake).

Vishnu said they spool just like stock. They have 10 units being fabricated right now for waiting customers. The turbo's alone are 5k. Vishnu is one of the largest tuners for the 335. I'm not sure is other tuners will be options, as there are more upgrades coming so the opportunities to tune will be plentiful.

Pictures below. Hit the 500 whp mark on 104 octane and meth and about 470whp on 93 octane with meth. Vishnu is launching a custom meth kit in the next month or two.

^^^That's pretty sick.

I looked into a 335i or 135i but I didn't like how the turbos were set up...

It was a 9 flat in the 1/8th mile. Sorry, no prior info on 1/4 for that car.

And when you talk the cost of BMW mods, the downpipes and tune are the steal. The exhaust system (which might yield 6-8hp) run about 1200+

Manyfolks are getting 75-80hp with just the JB3 tune and close to 100 with downpipes added.

Not only are there aftermarket turbo kits on the way, but stock turbos have made 439hp so far

New JB3 Customer Stock Turbo Dyno Record!!! 439rwhp & 448lbs. tq

Awesome 335! Bolt-ons, some race gas, and 117+ traps makes me jealous.

Yeah right? I was thinking the same thing man. We have a new Camaro V6 aT my work. The thing is rather doggy to me. It makes power way up top and red lines at 7k. I believe the Grand Am GT V6 we have could take it. It is a lot torquier that the Camaro. V6 Camaro = no torque what so ever.
