WTF is wrong with 302's???
) runs real ******* nice up top. The notch might seem better in theory, but once you get them both caged, the hatch has the advantage with better aero. And while you can put a fiberglass trunklid on a notch, you can do the entire hatch in fiberglass with a lexan window and be even lighter, letting you move the weight lower where it can be more helpful. I've done a notch, but my current 5.0 is a hatch.

LX 5.0 FTMFW
Never shoulda sold mine.
Where are these myhthical 302's. i want to see an example. i think the lt1 is much better than a 302, imo. why do stang owners always drop GM engines in...... and ive only seen 1 f-body owner put in a ford motor just to be funny. im just sayn.
I'm just sayin'.
you come in here bashing with yoru senseless biased BS in a thread that was going fine until you came in here and then responded with a face to face and now you're the victim so dont' call you names cause we dont' know you?
what are you 16?
I'm just sayin'. (come on, you have to admit that part is funny, no?)
ya it is funny "im just sayin" that is. no man im 27 and i will be there at the end of next month and i started school to be a phsycotherapist... so i switch things around and **** people off all the time. so don't hate. do you live in so cal or what im lookin to go to irwindale speedway on the thursdays im there for. hahahahahah im just sayin!

I haven't seen too many 500rwhp N/A LT1's. Even if they are out there they are going to be 383+. You could easily make a 347 500rwhp N/A while staying below 7,500rpms. I will keep the debate to the stock block because a Dart block 363 would be a nasty nasty nasty fast motor.
That pretty negates the argument of which engine is better. Your argument is pretty much one sided showing the POTENTIAL of a 302 (331, 347, 363 with an aftermarket big bore block).
Of coarse there are going to be more examples of fully built 302s to fully built lt1s just because of the ratio of lt1 to 302s in existence.
Now back to the actual argument of a 302 vs an lt1
The average H/C Lt1 is right around 400 RWHP, with the more wild set ups hitting 500+.
lt1's can make 340-360 "cam only"
How many bolt on 302s with a cam can put down 340 to 360 to the tires?
The AVERAGE (that is the key word here) H/C/I 302 usually makes right around 300 RWHP (right around what a full bolt on lt1 makes)
How many 302s can put down 390 to 430 with ported E7s and a cam?
How many full weight bolt on 302s trap 107 (or more)?
In stock form there is no comparison. Better flowing aluminum heads, better flowing intake, more CI, MUCH more torque, much more power.
Like stated earlier, anything can be made to make X amount of HP with parts availble.
BTW, I'm sure you see the cars in my sig. I currently own two Modular Cobras and have had MANY 5.0l cars. I also have an LT1 Camaro. I am not posting an extremly biased oppinion like some in this thread (and other threads like this), I'm posting my experiences and actual knowledge with both cars (lt1/5.0L). I have respect for most any tastefully modded V8 RWD car and realize the potential to make any of them fast as long as the aftermarket parts are available.
302>LT1. my shitbox notch 2.73/auto car with nothing more than an ORX and flows took an auto LT1 a few months back. although im surpised that the weight difference hasnt come up yet. my notch weighed a touch over 3000lbs with me in it, while an LT1 f-body weighs around 3400-3500lbs.
The weight differenc is exactly why I want to build an LSx based notch.
BTW, a fully loaded lt1 Z28 coupe is right around 3440. There obviosly is a weight difference, especially when you campare a getted fox to a full weight F body. When you start pulling out the dual air bags, ABS, A/C ETC, and bolt on some slicks and skinnies, the large weight gap closes slightly.
Here is the BASE weight listed for the 5.0l foxes up to about 89 (they got a little heavier in 90 with an airbag and heavier yet in 91 when they added the 16" pony wheels)
LX Coupe 5 Speed 3010
LX Hatch 5 Speed 3069
GT Hatch 5 Speed 3144
LX Conv 5 Speed 3231
GT Conv 5 Speed 3365
Add:
A/C 40 Lbs
Power Locks 6 Lbs
Power Windows 6 Lbs
AM/FM Cass 2 Lbs
Premium Sound 5 Lbs
Radio Delete -9 Lbs
What is your combo? If you have an AOD and weigh 3000lbs with you in it, you must have quite a bit of weight pulled from the car or you are a toothpick with arms and legs.

Wow, what a worthless piece of ****.
