One of my buddies back on base bought a new srt8 challenger when it first came out and was always pushing me to race him because i gave him a ride in my car before he bought it and thought it was fast. But after he got his car and started breaking it in he swore his car was faster especially after he put in his new cold air intake. He is one of those guys who thinks that it will give him like 15-20+ horsepower. I refused to race for a couple months until the day before i had to deploy to Iraq, which was about a month ago. My camaro has afr205, a cam, lt headers, 4000stall, and blah blah(pretty much all the bolt-ons). Never dynoed or took to the track. So I really don't know where i stood.....The day before I deploy we take our cars out to a wide backroad. He shows up with one of our buddies who has a srt4 but i wasn't too worried about him because i smoked him so many times. We all line up, srt4 guy honks the horn to start the race....Off the line he jumps ahead me but I"m right on him and catching up fast. The Srt4 is pretty much out of the race soon as we started. In a couple a seconds i jumped ahead of the SRT8 about a car length and I'm slowly pulling away. I say we raced a little over a quarter mile but i beat him by about 1 1/2 car lengths. We raced a couple more times and I beat him everytime. He was real stunned and couldn't take being beat by my Camaro. I'm not going to lie appearence wise my car isn't the best looking Camaro out there because i pretty much dumped all my money inside the car.

If you beat him by a car and a half in a 1/4 mile and an srt8 challenger runs low 13s you should be high 11s no?

Something must be wrong with your car, having all those mods and only beating him by 1 1\2 carlengths and he only has an intake. My Camaro only has full exhaust, basic tune and everything else is stock and I beat a stock 2007 Charger SRT8 by about 1 1\2 carlengths. Something is seriously wrong with your car, but then again it might be because you haven't got it tuned. You need to get it tuned, your car will feel like it woke up from the dead after the tune. Just make sure you go to a reputable tuner, if not, your car might run worse.

i had it tuned but i really think it wasn't the greatest of tunes because i had a friend do it himself while i was off doing business and he is no professional....I thought i was going to smoke him all the way....

not gonna lie i would be very happy if i had an intake only srt8 challenger and only lost by a car and a half to a bolt on/cammed ls1

Maybe he got it tuned? Was it scratching into 2nd?

I recently ran a bolt-on, tuned 350rwhp M6 SS and got him by about a car from a 5mph roll. And yes, a cammed and stalled LS1 would take me, no doubt.

Nice kill. With a solid tune and assuming you've got anything but a sleeper cam in there, you should wreck him.
