so my neighbour picked up a new 1ss camaro l99... really beautiful car. orange with black stripes... too bad it's an auto though.

either way he came out last night so i could look it over, take it for a drive, compare it to mine, and of course, race...

we raced three times from a dig, cause rolls are ghey. each time was the same outcome. close right out of the hole but i would start pulling at the top of first and didn't look back. probably 2-3 cars in the 1\4 and pulling. i thought it would be closer. he was cool about it though. good sport. he ordered a CAI and wants to run again after.

good points about the car: much better build quality than a 4th gen--- you can tell it's much more solid, quiet inside, comfortable, low end torque seems better.. no rubbermaid interior

low points: l99 has less hp than ls3. the torque management for the trans is terrible! it shifts as fast as a retard building a picnic table. big downfall for the auto.

front and rear windows are a little small. poorer visibility than a 4th gen.


my cars mods are: CAI, full custom exhaust (no headers) ported TB and diablo tuner. e\t streets.

i have a question though. what do you consider "full exhaust" if you dont have headers? im guessing a custom Y to a catback? add headers in and thats what id consider "full"

What are those Autos running. seems they lose a lot of HP and TQ. BTW, Never get a sports car with an auto. I learn from my mistake.

i'm running on the stock manifolds with a custom catless 2.5" y pipe and a cat back... i always considered the manifolds to be a separate part, i dunno why.
thanks--- they're running from 13.4 to 13.1 i'm hearing. pretty idiot proof too. wont spin even with the t\c off

i think your car might gain some more hp if you get rid off the stock mani and go with LT

my car only has around 20,000 miles on it--- so i dont really want to mod it too much.

what i would like to do is find another one and do a full build up on it.

from what ive seena round here, the 2010 is EXTREMELY intake limited. once that is cleared up, it gains plenty, and the choke is gone.

That was not surprising. The l99 camaros seem to be putting down about 330ish to the wheels which is only slightly more then what the TA is prolly putting down, then consider the 400lb weight disadvantage for the camaro and what you see is what you get.

I can't lie that's a beaufitul Camaro. Good kill but that LS3 Camaro 6-speed is on another level. Also the new Camaro is much heavier than the last gen so 400 hp and an auto I'm not surprised at the race.

yup. the guy has been in contact with diablo, and they're saying they should have something available in a couple weeks.
