Good kill!! Winning is winning, right? Just dont race him again, if you dont want to lose!

True, a win is a win. But the OP's car is WAY too slow to handle that car without a mechanical issue or something.
Kudos on the W though.

wow i havent been checkin this thread. this was not a planned race. i was called and asked to go street racing. didnt know i was gonna be main event car. i mean, come on, cammed ls1 vs. shelby gt500 with hellion tt kit and still has the stock sc. yes the car was tuned. he is actually a good driver. not a good spot where we raced. we both spun pretty bad. the first time the pipe came off was after we had finished. they tried putting the clamp on tighter. so now he wants to up the boost from 12 to 17. second race it popped off before we even got off the bridge. he was on bogarts with at least a 275 or 325 tire. me on 18'' zo6 with 315. if it happens again, i will see if we can meet at a convenient store with light. have a video or pictures to see. i may carry a passenger. lets say i hurt some feelings. oh and about the sc'r question, its for take off til the turbos kick in. spinning aint winning!!!!

funny you say that. he used to own my car when it was a heads/cam 346. i had a 408 in it for awhile. i got in a bind, got rid of 408 and now i'm cam only. this is the least amount of power this car has made and i beat him with it. sucks getting beat by your old car.

does the s/c go into free wheeling spin past a certain rpms? i would imagine it would free up some good power if the s/c would free wheel past 4k or so and just let the turbos do the work.

I'd like to say that if this happened, pretty big if, good kill. I agree a win is a win but this doesn't begin to make sense.

i'm sorry that it doesnt make sense to anyone. but whatever. i have lots of witnesses. i wished i had a video to prove it but i dont. i'm sure next time i video it, he'll be a better driver and it'll make sense to everyone. anything can happen on the street. hell, at least i had the ***** to race the guy.

i believe it. you never know whats gonna happen on the street. at the track you may not be so lucky. but spinning ain't winning.he might should have used some of that money he had to pay for the motor mods on some traction mods.

What does "nicely" mean to you? ET? Trap speed?
There are some really fast cam only cars, but most are just 11 second cars with low 12x mph traps, which is nothing special.

An 11 second car with low 120 traps is nothing special at the track, but if the car is setup to hook and launch like a bitch on the street, it could very well be something special, especially considering how many high horsepower street cars run around on street tires, shitty Nittos, long gearing, and 18+" wheels. Not to mention how many people just can't drive their cars very well.

This isn't necessarily in reference to the OP's story, just an observation in general.

Sounds like in the OP's story, there were possible mechanical issues on top of the fact that he was just setup to run better in a 1/4 mile, which has been the downfall of MANY higher horsepower cars on the street.

I hear what you're saying, but I respectfully disagree. 11's and high 11x or low 12x traps is commonplace on the street. Just my opinion of course.

I suppose it depends on where you live and the cars in the area. We all know there are a LOT of fast cars in my area (and I've run quite a few of them), but it's typically from a roll because we either don't get the opportunity to go from a dig or they won't run from a dig because they're not setup for it. A good deal of the cars around here that make big power simply can't hook up on the street and would lose to most 11-second cars that can hook in a 1/4 mile on the street. I can name a dozen friends off the top of my head that make anywhere from my power level up to 250 rwhp more than me but won't run me from a dig because they don't want to risk losing to a car with that much less power or wrecking into a tree because they're not setup for it (or they've already lost to me). On the other hand, I personally know very few that would take me out from a dig on the street.

I'm not saying they aren't out there, just that I don't run into them very often and we both know how many races I get. If it was commonplace around here, I'd be posting a lot more digs and deaths than I do. I guess there are just a lot of people around here that love huge power but don't give two craps about putting it to the ground. I'm sure it varies greatly from place to place around the country.

And I know my car is nothing special. It's an 11-second car that hooks like crazy on the street and is geared to jump out hard. I wish there were more cars out here kicking my *** so I'd have more incentive to mod up and make it not-so-commonplace.

no 1/4 times yet. just 1/8. 7.22 @ 93 1.56 60'. 4.11 and ss4000. this was on my street wheels. its still got some left. after a good tune and with drag wheels, should bust off some teens or maybe some ohs. i love this combo. my race weight is 3500. but all this doesnt matter that much. i probably run a 12 on the street. we both spun to where we had to let out and get back in it.
