160mph and lost...
With an A4 and running at 165mph for any time period without some kind of cooler for the trans, there might be a good chance he did a bit of damage to it.
A stock Fbody will hit a hair over 170mph before it just flat out runs out of power to go any faster. I cant really comment on stock top speeds because all the Fbody's I have seen that have gone over 165mph and up to 220mph are so heavily moddified that they resemble NASCARS more than a street driven Fbody.
But I swear with my car the way it is and the upgraded cam it just feels like a beast on the top end. I have no doubt my car would fall flat on its face at some point...I'm just curious as to where that point is.
I didn't mean any disrespect to TomQ when I replied, but I just wrote exactly what happened and what I saw and what I felt. Not trying to argue at all, I would just never make up something or exaggerate what happened.
I see what you are saying, but the roads I race on is so well lit you don't need headlights.
I drive the roads every day. They are 4 lanes with shoulders on both sides, very flat with good visibility. Street lights going down both sides.
There could not be a safer time/place to do high speed runs on the street.

Sounds very similiar to the road we opened it up on. 2 lanes each way...with a median in the middle, shoulder on each side, very flat and straight(at least for a few miles) and street llights along the shoulders.
Now that's fast. Just have to make sure it's a really long stretch and there's nobody in front of you...

Stock geared F-bod the end of 6th is around 255mph ... even with 4.10's it would be around 215-220mph. Also your rev limiter is much higher than 5700rpms ... it's up around 6150-6200rpms. Plus, unless you have some serious power you are not getting above 180 or so, as NATA said.
You sure you don't mean hitting the rev limiter of 5th gear?
Everything that Phantom posted is correct. maybe one of the only things he has ever said that is true!
Unless you have a 1000rwhp . . . . .. . .
whoops wrong flag, i mean this one. . .

I had to let off at 165mph even (I have HUD) becasue of the upcoming traffic, nice afternoon speedrush
I have 03 Z06 with some lid/cam/LTs and tunning. i put down 400rwhp.
I haven't driven f-body for a long time now(less than a year though) and may be i just became power/speed spoiled and can't judge different cares how they should be. You don't feel (you just realize) much speed in Z06 even at 165mph, it feels glued to the ground...
But no doubt those speeds are very nice rush, good story good run - with a long straight away you can hit your top speed no doubt!
And comment about 6th gear pull, even corvette guys with powers well over 500rwp hardly can, if can do something about 6th gear.
