Notice how I said LS1 GTO the first time I referenced it. Quit acting like your GTO is fast it traps like 112 and you have money into it, plus its an LS2. Why don't you actually mod the car so you can back up your mouth?

 

Mach 1's are a money pit. They aren't fast unless you have TONS of cash in it.

 

Yes pacesetter headers $350 + free tune = lots of money. My fastest trap to date is 115, and that came with a 12.2 ET. For 1-2k in an LS1 GTO you can have a solid cam only car in the 11's. Show me a SS/TC Cobalt other than what ZZP (shop car) has in the 11's.

To date not 1 Cobalt has run me down, still waiting to find one. This includes a 30r swaped SS/SC and a fully bolt on and "infiniboost" SS/TC running 27psi. All the tune only cobalts I've run get left like they're standing still, and my car is no faster than a Ls1 GTO that has a cam.

I'll stick to what I originally said, saying a Cobalt will pound GTO *** dollar for dollar is possibly the most retarded thing EVER.

I would build the below GTO and ask the person stating otherwise about the Cobalt to write up a similar build sheet with new parts pricing (and sources) and compare what we both think they would run.

That's a high 11-second car with a high 11X trap, possibly quicker with a good driver.

DDS: feel free to post up a $2k build on a turbo Cobalt and we'll compare. I know very little about them so it's very possible you'll eSTOMP my 2004 GTO on the internet. I'm a reasonable guy who's willing to admit defeat if you can show how you'd do it.

 

Good writeup, didn't think of being civil about it, just felt like stating the obvious that the statement was retarded. That setup is pretty much what I'd to too. It's a shame you put so much effort into finding legit prices and what not, the Cobalt guy was just spewing nonsense and probably won't be heard of for a rebuttle
