Default 2001 Camaro Z28 VS 2001 Mustang Cobra

Well I talked about this run a while back... but was FINALLY able to get the video on Youtube. Did a whole bunch of runs but only put these together. Was pretty close until I got into top of 2 going into 3 gear then I just started to walk away...... Now the Mustang has 4.10 gears so were be seeing a Rematch soon. (Hopefully)

Camaro mods are Borla exhaust, SLP lid, Nitto 555R Drag Radial tires. Camaro put down 323/337 on a Dynojet.

Mustang mods are Flowmaster exhaust, K&N intake, Accufab throttle body, independent rear suspension, MM Subframe connectors, SCT tune, Hurst shifter. Mustang put down 290/301 on a Mustang dyno

It will be a completely different car with 4.10s. Should be neck and neck IMO with you pulling away very slowly the faster you get.

oo yea I know amazing how gears can change a car. especially 4.10.. but I'll make sure to post a vid if we do a rematch. hes kind of iffy about racing now as am I since we both had run ins with our LOVELY friends with the black & white cars

um we went from all kinds of mph... 10, 30, 45, 55, 60. in the first run it was 30 mph. second run was 45. (I think)

No dig runs? I can't watch the video at work. Good kills.

Well we are talking a car with 323rwhp and 337rwtq with a nice powerband and better gearing against a car with probably 287rwhp and 294rwtq with a much much much worse gearing. Looked pretty accurate to me. I'd say the Cobra owner didn't do anything wrong except bring a knife to a gun fight.

No doubt.. Guess I just didn't expect him to drop back quite that fast.

Damn that was a murder. Someone call 911. He damn sure did bring a knife to a gunfight. Hopefully he is better prepared next time so it will be a good run. Even with the gears I don't think he'll have enough though. Maybe from a dig to the 1/8th.

yea his did 290/301 actually on a mustang dyno. so that has something to do with it.. but I really wanna see the difference in his ride with the gears

yea I didnt think it would be like that also... I asked him after everything if he fucked up at all. he said only once but it wasn't in these two runs. Camaros 3 gears are GREAT... like mentioned the Cobras just fell flat on its face in 3 gear... 4.10 though will help that out though...

hahaha I wish we had done some digs... would of been really interesting. but were see how he is from digs with his gears now.

Good kill! I'm sure the gears will wake his ride up, but I'd still put my money on you for the win (pending no driver error).

I don't know....I'd have expected him to stay closer. I'd assume he's short shifting in third. With the NA Cobra's power band, shifting higher is better. They ahve a nice upper RPM HP curve and don't really taper off at redline.

Not to say I'd expect him to win, just not as much of a gap.

Nice kills man.

Pretty sweet race. Stock for stock, doing a dig race, (say i suppose..1/4th mile distance) how much would a ls1 normally put on the 99/01 cobras?

assuming equal drivers figure there will be at least 4-5 cars between them at the finish. Though I've seen quite a few that couldn't break out of the 14's and seemed to be launched properly...

And I've seen countless high 13 second LS1 cars.

They don't taper off at all in high rpm's. Pretty much all of my Cobra buddies shifted at or right under the 6850-rpm redline. That's where you'll see the best times. And I do agree the outcome should have been closer but you know.....
