Talking I killed a Shelby Super Snake!

Yup. I did it with my street driven 2nd gen at Orlando Speedworld Dragway on Sunday. I actually never saw him even though I spun the crap out of my Nittos. He did trap 117mph but he had no traction. I talked to him after the run and he was a super nice guy. His car put down 610rwhp on the chassis dyno. But as he found out, that doesn't mean SQUAT! I don't think my WS6 would have been a match for his car. BTW, I am done with these Nittos. My blower destroys them. I think I will try some ET Street radials.

I think they put down 700hp/750hp as opposed to 500hpish.

Myk thats just mean... A noob might wonder through here. Then go into real life and tell someone there Super Snake isn't real because it doesn't have the cape.

I like how Ford ties in the SS use in there name. Deep down they just want to be a chevy.

Do you have an idea how heavy that Mustang is? My 2nd gen weighs 3700 with me in it and only traps 113 on motor.

It's just a 355 with an old B&M 144 supercharger. It's not a drag car, subframes aren't tied and all stock suspension. Power steering, power brakes, power windows.

Ehh idk about that, the weight really limits these cars at first. Especially one the race goes to triple digit speeds. A GTO, and especially an F body can beat a GT500 even while having significantly less power on roll races

Are you saying that their weight becomes more of a negative factor at higher speeds?

We both drove over 30 miles to the track. I had the holeshot. We both spun hard! I pedalled, never saw the guy again. I never said my car was FASTER. But you see, a drag race requires skill and not just a fast car. I have beat faster cars many times before.

Good kill! I really like those GT500's (especially the Super Snakes), but there don't seem to be alot of them that hook up well. The owners are more into 20" wheels and big dyno sheets I guess

117 sounds very low for 610rwhp. There is weight as a factor, but it should be more than that IMO. Dyno queen or happy dyno.

Not sure if it is just the weight, maybe gearing as well, but they sure do lose A LOT at the top end

It is definately not weight. I don't know that much about them, but I would imagine that if they do in fact lose a lot on the top end, it would boil down to gearing and/or COD. They definately do not look very aerodynamic to me, but what do I know.

I have read in a couple auto magazines that the super snakes are actually a couple tenths slower than the gt500 because of traction issues.

Tires are just inadequate for the job-- size, etc

I'm sure that with the proper size and type tires they would lay down some awesome numbers.
