Wonder why it is that a lot of people in here claim that S197s are slow then.

They are quite slow stock, and it takes a lot of mods to wake them up. Before my dad (realized his mistake) sold his 06 GT we ran a few times, it was just embarrassing. And i also ran a FULL exhaust 5 speed 07 GT, that had a CAI, top end and tune from every possible roll and even a dig and i just freight trained on him. After running they inspected my car saying no way was i stock. Me and passenger just laughed through out this whole ordeal.

because they are. There's no way in hell you are getting S197's to run mid-low 12's with just boltons. Like trying to squeeze orange juice out of a rock: aint gonna happen unless they guy squeezing is lying about whats in his hands. "Sure, it's just a rock and I'm squeezing orange juice out of it. What, you don't believe me?"

i got into an argument with a stang guy that said "bolt on" s197 can run 11's. i said no way in ****.
turns out if you put over 6k of "bolt on" parts, reduce weight and eliminate accessories they can run 11.9's. but they wouldn't reveal the trap speed for some reason.

11.9 at 110mph is why. lol
A magnacharger 'bolts on' to my engine so that counts, too? Hell, I got a vehicle that only puts out 176rwhp and with one of my lighter friends riding it runs low 9's: mid 8's with gears, air shifter, swing arm extensions, slick, MR09 gas and one of my 140lb friends riding it. Only a idiot would call it 'basic mods' though: and thats what calling a car 'boltons' means to me--- Basic Mods.

When you are talking about bolt ons you have to use alittle bit of common sense. If you are flat out stupid then your idea of bolt ons will not be the same as someone with intelligence. Truth is the term "bolt ons" is just that, a term. I has no real meaning past what two people agree it means.

THose familiar with pushrods and not modulars aren't going to understand the difference an improperly timed cam job can make. A/M cams have to be degreed properly to be worth a ****......and most just slap them in without degreeing them. Ignorance at it's finest.

guys who think that bolt on 2v's cant regularily run 12's are retarded. you just bolt on a blower or nitrous and away you go!

What can i say i talk only from what i have experianced. Lost to many a terminator yes, but never a new edge or s197, hell and my dad had one so i experianced those first hand.
Also im a stock GTO i dont expect 12s, i didnt buy the car to go fast in a straight line. But when a few of my friends were going to the dragstrip i tagged along, i personally dont think its too bad of a time since it was my second time at a drag strip ever and first time with the GTO. (last time was a swapped civic lol)
