Sounds like a GT has more power but the WRX obviously gets out of the hole better. The trap speed will say what the outcome would be from a roll.

*Nod* Those AWD cars are a beast from a roll.

Being where I live, I might actually think about buying one if it had more HP.

I was thinking about buying a WRX for a DD since they can sound so good with the right exhaust. But the way I drive combined with the AWD, I would have the transmission or axles ripped out of that car. And I've heard things aren't cheap for those cars.

I looked at driving the STi as my daily for a long time. I would go look at other cars and always come back to it because I thought would be a decent performer that could be alright for daily driver duty.

Until I saw how many were in for service work at the Subaru dealer getting replacement transmissions at 5k or so a pop. Talked to one guy that was on his third.

They are fun but I feel the same way as you...its not worth the cost if you want to have a little fun in your DD.

STI would not make a good daily driver IMO. They go through tires like crazy, and my friend only averages like 17MPG in his. So basically you'd be better off driving an F-body

I actually just picked up an '08 Cobalt SS Turbo last week as a daily, so far its been good.

STI is not a good DD ! I speak from experience. The tranny on the other hand is bulletproof. It supposedly can handle up to 600WHP & 600lbs. I never had any problems with my tranny when I had mine. The WRX tranny is the weak one, they'll pop at around 350whp or so give or take 20whp.

I ended up on the sidewalk with a nice gash in my rim one morning in the rain going to work. The back end came around as I turned onto the main street kinda fast(i was running late) !

I'm not a STI basher, I loved my STI, it was fun ! I was at stage 2, my engine was fully forged and ready to go 20g or bigger, I had the giant IC to support it. But I fell on hard times and it was something I could let go to pay some bills. Do I miss it ? Hell yes ! If I had the chance to get another one would I ? I think I would go with the Evo only because they respond to mods better and they're cheaper to build.
