Default Stupid question

I tried my top speed the other night, and I all I got was 164mph...
Is this normal? I put down 450-460 RWHP, and she ran strong through 5th gear, but as soon as I went to 6th, she stayed there. I have stock gears (3.42s with M6, MS3 cam. etc....
2001 Trans Am

Whats wrong with my ride if anything?

Sorry, I had originally posted this in the wrong section...

6th gear is an overdrive gear. i believe that most people do top speed runs up to 5th in the 6sp's. i have an auto so this might not be 100%

I'm sure your speed limiter was tuned out on the dyno.

Your limiter has to be there still, because even with the stock revlimiter at 6200 you would be doing 187 in 5th.

The electronic nanny steps in around 155 MPH on my car stock(I set mine to 250MPH). I was able to reach 150 MPH when I had around 100HP less than you. Are you sure the tuner didn't just set it to 165?

Last I knew the WS6 and SS had a limiter at 162ish because of the tires, a little higher than the Z28 and formy because they got the wider/different tires from the factory. But I might be talking out my *** too.

It's not just about rwhp..It's also arodynamics...Your WS6 is a beautiful ride but all those curves/non functional holes..... gotta come at a price...

164 mph via GPS is actually pretty respectable for an WS6...It dose around 158 mph bone stock..So picking up 6 mph on top end is pretty good.

+1 The only reason for the 6th is for gas milage, if you do it again in 5th make sure you post the results!

ya you should get more then that because with a good heads and cam package you should be able to spin that out to 7k in 5th so i would bet it is a limiter set there.
