So I killed a 600 last night.

If there is one vehicle in the whole world that I can truthfully say I would be scared to daily ride or drive it is the zx14. I easily ride a 1500 vulcan v-twin, but it is only around 75hp. The zx14 is a 200+hp missile. My frame is just too small for that much weight and power and if it gets out of hand I'd be in trouble quickly...We are talking more horsepower then most compact and mid sized cars on a 2 wheeled monster.
This is coming from a guy who daily drove an 11 second stalled auto z28 on drag radials during the FL rainy season in thunderstorms with no traction control .

The ZX14 is an excellent DD to me. My last DD was an 04 ZX636r. I never realized how uncomfortable it was until I got the 14. It's really a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It rides like a Lazy-Boy at low speeds but turns into a beast when you want it to. Definately the best bike I've ever owned. Long trips...no problem; 1/4 mi trips...no problem! Here's a pic of my old 636...I know the pic makes me look like a jerk...I didn't see the little girl until i saw the picture!!

i dont want a 14 because theyre long and bulky, plus i wanna tear up the twisties and the 1/4.. although i do agree, 14's and busas are rather comfy.. ill own one some day. i wanna have an 8 second bike and im not going to ruin a good handling 1000 to do it.

wanna loan me yours?
id like to ride one, but im 19 years old.. how many dealerships are going to give me test rides? haha.. and i dont personally know anyone with a 14 that would ever let me ride it.
irunelevens- an SV1000 will hang with most if not all literbikes for the first couple of gears.. theyre more intense than you think. my teacher at MMI has one with a PC, full yoshis and an airbox mod, he says he cant keep the front end down below 4th gear.

I really liked my 636...but looking back I now realize that I was always WOT...where as now...not so much. Most people get a 600...then put an exhaust, sprockets, air filter, and a power commander or TRE on their bikes to make them faster. I guess my point is...why not just bypass all of that and get a faster bike....they all cost about the same price. Instead of riding a slow bike fast...you can ride a fast bike slow. That's just me though I guess.

Oh...wow...I'm with the dealership! I would have killed myself on a 14 or anything bigger than the 750 I owned when I was 19. It takes a lot of maturity and experience to stay disciplined on a bike as fast as a liter bike or bigger (faster). Maturity and experience comes from not only time behind the throttle but losing some good friends over the years because of stupid s#!t. Be careful and ride safe!

^^I know you too and it's all LIES! You're gonna use another 19 year old as a reference?
Just kidding bud you have good head on your shoulders.
Yeah I know. Just razzing you. I think it will be a good run. I hope.. Maybe it will be ready for club day on the 27th.

We will see what happens. But yea, Tyler is smart enough to know how to ride conservatively, especially with crazy Phoenix traffic around. Its not himself he needs to worry about, but the ******** around him. He is smart enough to just cruise and not push himself, or his bike, to the limits on the street.

the ZX14 doesnt make 200 hp.. .. and i know a guy thats about 5'5" and 150 lbs that rocked a busa for a long time and rode the **** out of it..

Yeah, in my situation I more than likely will never get another bike. And if I do I won't be getting anything too fast. Honestly I might just get another SV650 (fully-faired this time), do full exhaust/tune, and call it a day.

im thinking more like 185 crank.. this is bone stock.. dyno's vary a bit but i cant see more than 175 at the rear wheel stock.
