Default First kill

I usually don't race on the street since I was pulled over for racing a few years ago, but I couldn't resist the opportunity today. I got on to the freeway behind a black 05-09 mustang, and immediately he slows down so I would try and pass. Thinking he was slowing down for traffic I just stayed behind him for a few miles until he pulled in the slow lane. Realizing what he was doing I pulled up next to him and honked it off at 60 mph and immediately start pulling on him. By the time I hit 100 I had several cars on him. We did this twice with the same results. He said his car was a stock auto, so that kind of explains how slow it was(very nice looking car though). We gave props and went on our way.

Why would you think that? My car runs 12.30, running a car that runs mid to high 13's.

Fill the less tech savvy guys on here in: what are these mods?
"PHB, SFC, PT 4000". Running a 12.3 I'm going to assume that 'PT 4000' is a 4000 stall converter. The rest is?

Equal? No. While both cars are rated at mid 13s, the LS1 will go faster.

The fastest LS1 time I know of stock is 12.8. The fastest 3v GT time I know of is 13.2

If the LS1 driver wasn't so great, then yeah, the GT would have an advantage. I've seen plenty of 3V Gts beat LS1s and I've also seen even more LS1s take 3v GTs.

They ARE close, but the LS1 has the advantage.

Being that his car is modded, the GT had no chance. None.

I remember the day my dad bought his 2006 Mustang GT. I thought it was pretty quick (didnt have a GTO yet) and my good friend with his CAI 2003 SRT-4 was over. We decided to go for some runs.

My dads was an automatic and out of the pocket it just raped the neon.
But off a roll it was DEAD EVEN. I was very suprised and dissapointed at the same time.
We both get back to my house, my dad looks at us pulling in together and asks "who won?"

Me and my friend look at each other and say...Tie...
My dad laughed it off as a joke.

Aren't 05-06ish cars rated at 300hp at the crank where as LS1's are around 350hp stock? With a lid/ cat back and tune maybe 365-370ish? Am I missing something as to how they are equally powered?

Good kill. I would definitely expect a stock auto 3V GT to get pulled by a mild bolt-on A4 fbody. Also, do you downshift before or just punch it in D on the last honk? I know that with my autos, if I punched it on the last honk without downshifting then the other car would jump out hard right from the get go and it'd make for a slaughter. If you're downshifting first and he wasn't then that would explain a car or two right there.

I posted before the mods were listed. 4-5 Cars is credible for a modded ls1 vs 3v gt.

Good kill OP

That torque converter is an EASY half second in the quarter. Stock converter sucks. not to mention it makes going from a roll (a weak spot in our stock converters) into a terror with just a converter, it's the best bang for your buck in an auto LS1

Because GM rated the LS1 f bodies at 305 and everyone goes by manufacturers numbers even though it is not uncommon for LS! f bodies to outdyno the new Stangs by 40 rwhp or so.
