One dyno can read one thing and one can read completely different, I hate when people start throwing dyno numbers around like dynos read the same every time and every dyno is the same.
As for the race remember that manual GTOs come with a 3.42 rear and the M12 tranny from a Z06 so the gearing stock on them are better than the stock gearing on a f body. GTOs arent as sow as alot of people make them out to be.

What are you talking about? they are heavy! therefore they are slow.... ![Winky](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_wink.gif)
*oh and just so you know they come with 3.46 gears not 3.42, and i believe its called the MN12 T56 but that im not 100% sure on.
Carry on.

Finding out all the info on the 06 GTO I raced I don't feel bad at all for losing. In fact I think I did pretty dang good all things being considered honorable death on my end

05 GTO A4 here and I made 333rwhp/327lbtq bone stock, no tune nada.
It's not all about peak numbers though...all that power over the whole curve really helps the GTO out especially from a roll and makes up for the weight disadvantage. On the street I'd give the nod to the F-body off the line simply because traction should be easier to achieve, but other then that GTO all the way.

If you saw my other posts in this thread I clearly state I'm a little rusty. Its been over a month up to that point since I had even driven my car. Its been close to a year since I've even had my car WOT. Admittedly I was a lil slow on the shifts the shifts is when he pulled me a little each time. I definitely have new respect for the LS2 goats.

This is a very interesting thread. I don't think that the GTO's are slow at all. Did everyone forget that Big_Bird(02 SS) has 3.90 gears. I was there and witnessed the races....from behind of course because my car is SLOW...the GTO refused to race from a low roll and only wanted 45 rolls or higher. And both times they shut it down at 110. The 02 SS shifted 3 times. The GTO only shifted 1 time. And the OP(02 SS) already admitted that he was a little "rusty" at driving the M6...but I assure you it wasn't full blown "granny" shifts. I also was suprised with the GTO. I also have a new respect for them.

From what I've gathered, BOTH bolt-on GTOs AND Fbodys can trap 114mph but no higher. I've raced both and neither are faster than me.
Throw in a stock Cobra and I think we're all in the same boat, differences in driver mod and fuel/trunk load on any given day.
Full bolt-on LS1s are over 350rwhp btw? I thought 330ish tops?

12.7 @ 111 is slower than what my GTO ran stock with DR's. Add just headers and a tune and I hit a 114.9 trap.
And to date, I've not yet lost to an SRT-8 anything, and I've raced probably 20 of them.

another ill informed wanna be car guy! lol i know how a few header, intake A4 fbody that make more than 350 to the wheels on a mustang dyno! and everyone know those read LOW! i have never meet a SRT8 anything that hasnt seen but my tail lights at the track even when i was bone stock! worse now with the 3200 stall! i think your racing A4's with 2.73 gears or lt1 fbodys thats about the only thing ur tug boat could beat!

Sounds about right. When I was just bolt ons I was able to take out 2 different friends cars. Both were cam'd, geared, and tuned fbody's. And it wasn't because of their lack of driving skill either. They both can slam gears pretty good. I just think that our stock gearing really allows us to shine on the highway. Good death to a worthy opponent!

Plus the gearing and power advantage are really noticed against stock F bodies off of rolls and espeically on the highway. Suprised a few of my LS1 F body owning friends
