Default 2001 SS vs 2009 BMW 135i

Both cars are bone stock. They ran 2 times and I was behind them watching. They ran from 50mph and it was dead even, but on 1 of the runs the BMW was about 1ft ahead. Pretty quick Bimmers.

Wow....a 1 series BMW can keep up with a stock LS1? I didnt expect that. They must have some straight 6 cylinders in those light little cars

Thats impressive...i have heard the 3 series cars have been beating up on LS1s never thought a 1 series would be a close race

Well a 1 series has the same motor and trans as a 3 series but is smaller and lighter so it kind of makes sense lol

Also if you know the owner of the one series tell him to get the new JB3 2.0. With just that he cn choose which tune he wants to run and it will be an amazing difference.

People have went into the 11s with tune only on the heavier 3 series.

Why would you be surprised that the 300 horsepower turbocharged engine in a 1 series would win when the same engine combination is in a heavier 3 series "beats up" LS1's? Assuming your anecdotal information is correct and all.

I would still rather drive an F-body. But damn that interior is nice http://www.carbodydesign.com/product...1_Series_3.jpg

The interior of the 1 series looks sweet, the exterior looks sort of unbalanced though. It looks kind of stubby to me.
Nice races.

Rematch coming soon... this time I'll get vids. Both cars will have passengers to make it even. And like other stated its a twin turbo (Same motor as the 335i).

A friend of mine has a 1 series that little thing is a blast to drive. His has been modded a little bit, tune and more boost. He keeps within a car length of my TA. He'd destroy a stock LS1 car.

Yep, 135s run pretty good.
Not a real significant difference in weight. <100lbs.

Unladen - Automatic Transmission
3384 lbs

Auto 335s can be as light as 3550

Maybe <100 is a little optimistic (on average). But, the 135 has a single exhaust and the 335 has a true dual. Most 135s dyno about 10hp less than 335s.

Edit
The 135 tested by CD in the lightening lap weighed 3392.
The 335 from the previous annual Lightening lap test weighed 3366

Nice races.
Yea the headlights look kind of awkward also. I think the only one I would drive is the two door coupe. The hatchback just looks weird...
