Never was too impressed with those S281's. My brothers IROC put 1 1/2 cars on one from a dig to 100mph a few weeks before he took it to the track and ran a 13.1 @102 with a 1.8 60' time back in '99. When he ran the S281 he thought for sure he was gonna get pasted and was actually dissapointed that the Stang was so overrated after reading all the articles that claimed they were mid to high 12 seconds cars. And for the naysayers, he let the 281 take the hit and get a fender on him before he got on it.

An E is alot different than anyother S281. Your brothers IROC didn't touch a S281E.

whats the difference? ... google images to the rescue. This is not the car obviously, but it looked exactly like this and was supercharged. Fill me in on the S281's Stopsign, I don't know much at all about the differences.?

EDIT: just read the article the pic came from, this is the stats for this parrticular 281 thats for sale:
1/4 Mile12.7 sec @ 122 mph
0-60 4.6sec
Top Speed 200mph
HP 405
Weight3800lbs

And he has a 'upgraded supercharger'

Most S281s are N/A GTs with body kits, the SC version is a blower on a stock motor, the Extreme is a built motor with a SC.

I'll check with my brother and see if remembers if it was an extreme or not. I assume it would say Extreme on it somewhere?

The Extreme was not your average S281. FWIW, MM&FF wen't 11.9 in a showroom stocker. Those cars were famous for being seriously underrated and you could throw as much boost at 'em as you wanted.

Edit: whoops, vid doesn't work.

That definately was not a stock E if it was an actual E at all and what a douche for passing on the shoulder of the road. Get that dumbass away from me when I'm racing!

I use to chat with the owner of that car on DigitalCorvettes.com in 2004. Yes it was definitely an Extreme and yes he got flamed for doing that. The car was not stock. Had a pulley sway among some other things. That was one two-valve I would not take lightly.

How fast was it?

Reason I said if it was an E at all was because I remember someone posting up that video saying it was a 99 351.

No it t'was an Extreme. Not sure what he ran, not even sure he ever took it to the track. I just remember him posting several videos of him ***-waxing numerous Corvettes and Cobra's.

I wouldn't say the most perfect.

The S351SC was one badass car though.

Much to learn you have. The hood is different and it says "S281" and Extreme underneath it IIRC.

Yes. As Stop pointed out, Steve Saleen built mustangs in foxes too. (can't recall his first year of build....I wanna say '87 or '89).

They sold decently. I loved the way the S281SC verts with all white sportster package looked. Wish they had more ***** under the hood though.
