c6 vs saleen
riding on the hwy and notice a mustang with hids behind me, I am running about 78mph and he gets out from behind me and goes about 80...i wasn't going to mess with him untill I saw the gauges on his apillar...i am thinking this could be a good run and the saleen was nice as hell...white with white wheels and slammed just right. I dropped back to 4th and at first he did not seem interested so now I am a car ahead..then all of a sudden he hits it and so do I . I was ahead by half a car when we started so it wasn't a straight up race but I put 3 to 4 cars on him...hehe the guy was real cool and gave me a thumbs up...dont know if it was blown or all motor I am at 491rwhp/428ft

Depends on how long it took you to put those 3-4 cars on him... if you went from 80-100mph, it was probably N/A. If you went up to 120mph+ he was probably blown. Good kill, what's your setup? 491rwhp on an LS3 would be full bolt-ons and a small-ish cam right?

Smallish cam? Not exactly. The LS3 heads flow well, but NO heads are gonna pull near 500rwhp out of 376ci with a small cam. For that matter, from what I've read and researched, it's actually pretty hard to get a LS3 into the 500rwhp mark even with ported heads and a big cam. and nearly impossible for a LS2 6.0 running the L92/LS3 heads and L76/LS3 intake... though there are now two guys I believe that are claiming to have succeeded using massive cams and stage 3 intake and heads.

I have patriot heads believe it or not...polished them out which toke me 2 days per head and my cam is 238/242 ...604/610...115 lsa happy with the results...big power without shelling out the afr/trickflow head money

Even with the best Trickflow or AFR heads out there, ported, with a ported Fast, you are still, unarguably, going to need a cam with a duration in the mid to high 230's and over .600" lift on a 112LSA or tighter. Huge flow requires huge cams to get huge horsepower... Though alot of times the huge cam setups would probably be faster with a smaller, more midrange torque providing setup.
Just so we get this straight since everyone has there own version of cam sizing: Mine goes like this:
baby cam is under 220 dur.,
small is up to 228,
midsize is 228-236,
big is 236-low 240's (and at the edge of streetable IMO)
and larger than low 240's is "out of my knowledge range".
EDIT: just saw your patriot head comment. you must have performed magic on them ports to achieve the 330+cfm intake flow required to run those rwhp numbers on a stock cube LS2. Nice.

So was I
mid to high 230 duration and 600 lift is NOT a big cam for a 376cid motor.
We aren't talking about huge horsepower here, we are only talking about 500rwhp.

Sounds like a nice mild cam to me. That is just a combination that was thought out well.
